Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge said SP Aaron Harang (back) was examined by a chiropractor Friday, May 17, and remains on track to make his next scheduled start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Tuesday, May 21.

Seattle Mariners SP Aaron Harang (back) will be scratched from his start against the New York Yankees Thursday, May 16, with lower back stiffness. SP Hector Noesi will start in his place. Harang is 1-4 with a 7.30 ERA in five starts. Noesi is 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA in four relief outings this year.

Fantasy Tip: Noesi is only a recommendation for desperate AL-only leaguers, especially if this winds up just being a spot start. If Harang's back winds up keeping him out longer, Seattle could look to recall Erasmo Ramirez from the minors.

Seattle Mariners SP Blake Beavan will be stretched out as a starter at Triple-A Tacoma in case SP Aaron Harang needs to be bumped from the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Danny Hultzen (shoulder) is dealing with shoulder problems, so Beavan could be the next starter in line for a promotion if Harang continues to struggle. Beavan will be useful in AL-only leagues if he's recalled.

Fantasy Tip: Scoop up Harang immediately in AL-only leagues now that it's official that he'll be joining the rotation. He could be a decent matchup play in cavernous mixed formats, as well.

The Seattle Mariners acquired SP Aaron Harang from the Colorado Rockies Thursday, April 11, in exchange for an unnamed minor leaguer, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Harang could very well replace Brandon Maurer as the No. 5 starting pitcher in the rotation. Maurer is sporting a 16.20 ERA over just 6 2/3 innings in two starts this year. Add Harang in AL-only leagues if you're in need of starting pitching.

The Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros and Minnesota Twins have all expressed an interest in Colorado Rockies SP Aaron Harang. The Rockies acquired Harang Saturday, April 6, and then promptly designated him for assignment.
