New York Yankees skipper Joe Girardi isn't committing to returning RP David Robertson (oblique) back in the closer role when he returns from the disabled list. Girardi said that RP Rafael Soriano is the team's closer right now, but Girardi won't make any decisions until Robertson is back. Girardi has trust in Soriano because he has more experience in the ninth-inning role.

Yankees | David Robertson to DL

The New York Yankees placed RP David Robertson (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, May 15, with a strained left oblique muscle. RP Rafael Soriano will be left to close out the ninth inning in Robertson's absence. Soriano has saved both of his chances with Robertson injured. RPs Cory Wade and Boone Logan will be trusted with more pressure-packed innings in the back of the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Soriano is the last man standing to close for the Yanks and should be acquired in all leagues. For more, check out this Diamond Market.

New York Yankees RP David Robertson received his first save chance Tuesday, May 8, against the Tampa Bay Rays. He allowed a hit and two walks with two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning, and he needed 25 pitches to convert the save opportunity. RP Rafael Soriano allowed a run, hit and walk in the eighth inning.

Yankees | Mariano Rivera believed to have torn ACL

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi said it is believed RP Mariano Rivera (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament Thursday, May 3. Rivera will meet with team doctors to have the diagnosis confirmed. He is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Although the Yanks are waiting for confirmation of the preliminary diagnosis, fantasy owners can assume that it's serious and Rivera will miss extended time. Reportedly, Girardi told the media that he'd sleep on it before determining Mo's replacement. Obviously, the candidates are David Robertson, who is once again proving to be incredibly tough to hit, and Rafael Soriano, who has 90 career saves and makes all that coin. If the skipper is torn, roto players are too. Either is a great addition, if available.

New York Yankees RP Rafael Soriano (finger) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings Wednesday, April 11. He said he used a Super Glue-like substance on his cut middle finger which kept him out Tuesday, April 10. His nail still hurts, but he expects to be fine.
