Mon, 22 Apr 2013 13:32:09 -0700 Washington Nationals RP Rafael Soriano (personal) is unavailable to pitch Monday, April 22, after his wife gave birth to the couple's child. RP Drew Storen will come on in a save situation, if it arises. Fantasy Tip: Make sure to get Storen in your lineup for today if you own him in any deep leagues. Soriano should be back within the next day or two.
Sat, 20 Apr 2013 11:57:15 -0700 Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson said CL Rafael Soriano will go on paternity leave Monday, April 22, making him unavailable for one game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Fri, 12 Apr 2013 15:21:39 -0700 Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals RP Rafael Soriano is unlikely to pitch in a save situation Friday, April 12, after pitching in each of the last three games. Manager Davey Johnson had yet to talk to Soriano, but it appears he's leaning toward resting his closer Friday. RP Drew Storen is expected to get the nod if a save situation arises. Soriano didn't pitch much this spring, and he tossed 24 pitches last night and a total of 57 during the series with the Chicago White Sox. Fantasy Tip: Make sure you get Storen in your lineups if you own him in deep mixed leagues or NL-onlys. The Nationals definitely don't want to overwork Soriano so early in the season, so bank on him not appearing in a save sitch tonight.
Fri, 12 Apr 2013 10:10:15 -0700 Washington Nationals RP Rafael Soriano earned his fifth save in six chances against the Chicago White Sox Thursday, April 11, and his third in three days. "Well, I was tempted to go another route," manager Davey Johnson acknowledged afterward about using Soriano again, "but he hadn't cried 'Uncle' for me yet." Fantasy Tip: Expect Soriano to be rested Friday if a save situation arises. Either Drew Storen or Tyler Clippard will receive the save chance most likely.
Wed, 10 Apr 2013 14:49:33 -0700 Washington Nationals RP Rafael Soriano (leg) said his leg tightened up while pitching against the Cincinnati Reds, but he said he feels fine and it isn't bothering him. Fantasy Tip: Soriano's injury seems to be very minor, but keep an eye on the situation in case it affects his performance or lingers. Drew Storen is likely Davey Johnson's first option to close out games if Soriano is unavailable.
Wed, 10 Apr 2013 14:03:19 -0700 Washington Nationals RP Rafael Soriano (leg) is dealing with a "little tweak in his leg," according to manager Davey Johnson. Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how serious this injury is, but if you're speculating for saves or if you own Soriano and want to cover your back, Drew Storen should be your target on the waiver wire. Tyler Clippard could also join the mix for saves if Soriano's injury becomes serious.
