New York Mets SP Johan Santana said his left shoulder feels good even though he struggled in his start Tuesday, April 17, allowing six runs in 1 1/3 innings. Santana says he plans to make his next start but the team will start monitoring him after that start because he will be now be working on regular rest. He will have had an extra day off to prepare for his first three starts of the season.

New York Mets SP Johan Santana allowed six runs - four earned - and four hits with one walk while recording just four outs in a loss Tuesday, April 17, against the Atlanta Braves. The outing was the shortest of Santana's career. He is winless in the first three starts of a season for the first time since 2006. It was the first time Santana failed to record a strikeout in a game since June 22, 2003, when he made a relief appearance.

His fastball was clocked at 90 mph, which he reached just once. Santana recorded nine in a row at one point, striking out four, and he threw 99 pitches in the outing. He gave up just one run while walking three and striking out eight.
