The Cincinnati Reds activated OF Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) from the 60-day disabled list Sunday, Aug. 11. He is expected to return to action Monday, Aug. 12. The team optioned OF Derrick Robinson to Triple-A Louisville in the corresponding roster move. Ludwick has been sidelined since Opening Day due to a shoulder injury.
Fantasy Tip: With Ludwick back in action, it's bad news for Chris Heisey, who will see less playing time. Ludwick might be a forgotten man in fantasy leagues, and could be a cheap source of power down the stretch. You might want to keep him reserved for at least a week while he knocks off the rust, however. He managed just six hits in 44 at-bats during his minor-league rehab assignment.

The Cincinnati Reds expect OF Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) to come off the 15-day disabled list Monday, Aug. 12, when the team begins a road trip against the Chicago Cubs.
Fantasy Tip: Ludwick hasn't played since separating his shoulder on Opening Day. He might be a cheap source of power in NL-only fantasy leagues and mixed formats if he is available off the waiver wire.

The Cincinnati Reds activated C Ryan Hanigan (wrist) from the 15-day disabled list Friday, Aug. 9, and placed C Corky Miller (thigh) on the disabled list with a bruised right thigh in a corresponding move. OF Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) is expected to be activated Sunday, Aug. 11.

Cincinnati Reds RP Jonathan Broxton (elbow) will be activated from the disabled list Wednesday, Aug. 7, and C Ryan Hanigan (wrist) and OF Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) aren't far behind him. Broxton didn't allow a run in two rehab innings with Triple-A Louisville, giving up five hits, no walks and striking out five. Hanigan took batting practice two weeks ago, and his wrist only hurts him when swinging. Hanigan should come off the DL Wednesday or Friday, Aug. 9. Ludwick has played in eight rehab games, but is only 2-for-28 at the plate.
Fantasy Tip: Devin Mesoraco is likely to continue to see the majority of starts behind the dish, especially if Hanigan's wrist still bothers him when swinging. Ludwick should return to his role as the everyday left fielder. He'll be useful in deep mixed leagues with five outfield spots.

Cincinnati Reds OF Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) said he is ahead of schedule in his rehab assignment from a shoulder surgery and expects to begin a rehab assignment this month. He said he is swinging at 85 percent and is not feeling any pain.

Cincinnati Reds OF Chris Heisey (hamstring) hasn't had a rehab assignment scheduled yet despite feeling good.
Fantasy Tip: We guess previous reports of one last week didn't come to fruition. He'll probably get a chance to contribute fantasy numbers before Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) does, but any failure to show anything significant could lead to a Billy Hamilton sighting later in the summer.

Cincinnati Reds OF Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) will throw on the field Friday, June 14, for the first time since his April shoulder surgery. He said he thinks he's about two months away from returning.
Fantasy Tip: Chris Heisey or Billy Hamilton later this summer, but he'd be an upgrade over Cincy's current left-field timeshare between Xavier Paul and Derrick Robinson.

Cincinnati Reds OF Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) said he isn't expected to be activated from the disabled list before mid-August, at the earliest. "People seem to be under the impression that I'll be back in the middle of July and that's a complete lie," he said. "I can't even resume baseball activities until July 3, so it's at least the middle of August. I can't even throw a baseball or swing a bat until July. I've got a whole lot of stuff to do. I've got to get in baseball shape, as they call it. You take three, four months from throwing a baseball, it's going to take a while to get your arm back in shape."
