Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is hitting .400 to start the 2015 season but doesn't have any home runs yet. Opposing pitchers continue to throw him away, and Fielder hasn't tried to pull pitches, instead taking what the pitchers are giving him and using the big part of the field to foil the shift. He has also swung and missed on just four of 62 pitches off the plate on the outside. Fielder said this spring that he knows his swing better and his approach at the plate is more sound.
Fantasy Tip: Fielder ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is off to a great start this year, minus the home runs. That should be forgiven by his fantasy owners in favor of good health. If his solid approach continues, Fielder could be in for a great year, especially since the power should eventually come. Don't be overly concerned that he's facing a lefty (J.A. Happ) Friday night.

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder (neck) is hopeful that he'll be fully ready for spring training next year, although he has yet to resume baseball activities. Fielder is not trying to return this year. Fielder finished the year with a .247 average and just three home runs in 42 games. "Right now, not really worried about the baseball part. Worried about just actually letting it fuse and letting it heal," Fielder said. "Baseball stuff, that'll be there, obviously, but I just want to heal first before I do anything. Once I get cleared to do something, I don't know how to do under 100 percent."
Fantasy Tip: There will be some hesitance to draft Fielder because of his serious neck injury, but if he's 100 percent healthy in spring training next year, he could be a relative bargain on draft day if the rest of your league mates are wary of the slugger.

There is an outside chance Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder (neck) could swing a bat again before the end of the season.
Fantasy Tip: While anything Fielder does before the end of the year would be considered good news, Fielder will not have any value until 2015 at the earliest.

The Texas Rangers officially placed 1B Prince Fielder (neck, back) on the disabled list Friday, May 23, and activated 2B Donnie Murphy (neck) from the DL in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: It's probably smart to wait until Fielder's second opinion confirms the initial diagnosis before you outright drop him in redraft leagues. The news that Jurickson Profar (shoulder) may not play this year, either, makes Rougned Odor and Murphy more valuable in deep mixed and AL-only leagues.

With 1B Prince Fielder (neck) out for the season, speculation had the Texas Rangers considering 1B/DH Kendrys Morales. "Not today, not right now," general manager Jon Daniels said. "I think that our focus right now is on the group of guys that are going to come back."
