Boston Red Sox C David Ross (concussion) was cleared to resume throwing and hitting off a tee Monday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Ross could return from the seven-day disabled list later this week. Ryan Lavarnway is expected to be returned to the minor leagues as a result.

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said C David Ross (concussion) is making progress and is scheduled to undergo a clearance exam Monday, May 20. Ross was scheduled to undergo the exam Saturday, May 18, but was experiencing symptoms Friday, May 17.

Boston Red Sox 3B Will Middlebrooks (ribs) does not have any rib fractures and is being listed as day-to-day by manager John Farrell. Middlebrooks isn't playing Wednesday, May 8, however. C David Ross (quadriceps) is also day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: If you own Middlebrooks, you need to get used to the fact that he's a streaky hitter and injury-prone. Have plenty of backup options at corner infield or third base as a result.

Boston Red Sox David Ross might play mostly against left-handed pitchers this year since 24 of C Jarrod Saltalamacchia's 25 homers last year came against right-handers. However, manager John Farrell cautioned against assuming the team will use a platoon at catcher this season.
