Atlanta Braves C David Ross is stockier in his upper body, and it was by design after he increased the intensity of his offseason weight workouts. "Last year I was trying to get skinny like everybody else," Ross said. "I looked good, but I'd rather hit the ball in the trees."

Atlanta Braves C David Ross went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs Wednesday, July 27, against the Pittsburgh Pirates, providing all of the offense in a 2-1 win. Ross is now the starting catcher while C Brian McCann (oblique) is on the 15-day disabled list. The Braves are 17-6 with Ross starting, and he is batting .316 with four homers and 18 RBIs in those starts.

Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said C David Ross is likely to catch most of SP Jair Jurrjens' starts moving forward. Jurrjens has a 2.51 ERA in 11 games with Ross as his catcher.
