Cubs | Kyle Schwarber sitting out

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 08:54:48 -0700

Chicago Cubs C Kyle Schwarber is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels Saturday, July 25. C David Ross will start at catcher and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Schwarber ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has not played in the last few games but likely will return to the lineup soon. Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .182 this season and should not be an option on FantasyScore.

Cubs | Kyle Schwarber sitting out

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 10:16:55 -0700

Chicago Cubs C Kyle Schwarber is out of the lineup Friday, July 24, with C David Ross hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is in there because he's Jon Lester's personal catcher and has little FantasyScore appeal.

Cubs | No Kyle Schwarber in the night cap

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 13:18:49 -0700

Chicago Cubs C Kyle Schwarber is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday, July 22. C David Ross is starting behind the plate and batting seventh against Cincinnati SP Tony Cingrani Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Schwarber ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is turning heads at the major league level, but he caught 22 innings in less than 24 hours, so the break is warranted. Currently, Schwarber boasts a .429/.467/.738 slash line with 10 runs, three home runs and 11 RBI over 45 plate appearances. He needs to be owned in all seasonal formats. Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for FantasyScore players Wednesday. Ross is just 14-for-81 at the dish this season.

Cubs | David Ross catching Saturday

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 12:30:37 -0700

Chicago Cubs C David Ross will bat seventh against Atlanta Braves SP Manny Banuelos Saturday, July 18. C Kyle Schwarber will get the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Jon Lester ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) is on the mound for Chicago, so it should be no surprise that Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is in the starting lineup Saturday. He is batting just .189 this season and should be avoided in FantasyScore.

Cubs | Kyle Schwarber won't start every day

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 12:49:38 -0700

Chicago Cubs C Kyle Schwarber won't become the club's everyday starting catcher with C Miguel Montero (thumb) on the disabled list. Chicago is expected to use three catchers, including Cs David Ross and Taylor Teagarden. However, Schwarber is the only left-handed hitter in the trio.

Fantasy Tip: Schwarber clearly has the most upside, especially in the power department, of the Cubs' three catchers, and he can also find his way into the lineup by playing some left field. Even without a guaranteed everyday job, Schwarber is worth an addition in all leagues because of his power upside.

Cubs | Miguel Montero sitting out vs. Mets

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 14:00:15 -0700

Chicago Cubs C Miguel Montero is not in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Wednesday, July 1. C David Ross will be the starting catcher and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Montero ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) in all formats Wednesday. He is currently reeling at the dish with a .189/.250/.189 slash line over his past 12 games. Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has .585 OPS this season, and FantasyScore players should aim higher Wednesday.

Cubs | Miguel Montero has day off

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 08:39:40 -0700

Chicago Cubs C Miguel Montero is out of the lineup Thursday, June 25, with C David Ross in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) faces off against Carlos Frias, but he's in there because he's Jon Lester's personal catcher. Avoid on FantasyScore.

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 13:55:47 -0700

Chicago Cubs C Miguel Montero is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Clayton Kershaw Monday, June 22. C David Ross is starting and hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) isn't known for his offense, as he's hitting .188 (12-for-64) on the season. Avoid him against one of the best pitchers in the game tonight.

Cubs | Miguel Montero not in the lineup

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 09:19:18 -0700

Chicago Cubs C Miguel Montero is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Trevor May Saturday, June 20. C David Ross will be the starting catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Montero ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) usually sits out when Jon Lester is the starting pitcher, so he should return soon. Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .167 this season and should not be a starting option on FantasyScore.

Cubs | Miguel Montreo a late scratch

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 14:15:48 -0700

Chicago Cubs C Miguel Montero (back) was a late scratch Wednesday, June 17, with a stiff back. C David Ross draws into the lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Shaun Marcum Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Montero ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) from all your fantasy lineups and check back for updates on his status. At this point, it doesn't appear to be a serious injury. Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has a .167 batting average this season, and he should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for FantasyScore contests Wednesday.
