Dawn Klemish, of Orioles.MLB.com, reports Baltimore Orioles C Chris Widger (shoulder) is likely done for the season. Widger hasn't played since Aug. 27 because of a pinched nerve in his right shoulder.

Michael Gluskin, of Baltimore.Orioles.MLB.com, reports Baltimore Orioles C Chris Widger (shoulder) underwent an MRI Friday, Sept. 8, and he could return sometime this weekend. The improvement in Widger's health was also part of the reason the team designated C Danny Ardoin for assignment Friday.

Spencer Fordin, of Baltimore.Orioles.MLB.com, reports Baltimore Orioles C Chris Widger (neck) could be done for the season, and he will know more after visiting with a doctor Tuesday, Sept. 5. "I think the report is that he's got a couple disks that are bulging and putting a little pressure on his nerve," said manager Sam Perlozzo. "One of them's no concern and the other one is a little more of a concern -- but nothing that would require surgery or anything like that. It's just a matter of how he feels in a couple days and whether he's still in the picture."

The Associated Press reports Baltimore Orioles backup C Chris Widger (shoulder) was not available for the team's game Tuesday night, Aug. 29, after he strained his right shoulder while taking batting practice. Widger could miss a couple games.

ESPN.com reports the Baltimore Orioles signed free-agent C Chris Widger Friday, Aug. 4, and he will fill the roster spot left open by the departure of C Javy Lopez, who was traded to the Boston Red Sox Friday. Widger began the season with the Chicago White Sox and batted .184 with one home run and seven RBI in 27 games before being released Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Dave van Dyck, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago White Sox C Chris Widger has been designated for assignment. Widger was batting .184 in 27 games with the team. In addition, the pitching staff's ERA was 5.36 with Widger behind the plate while the pitching staff has a 4.31 ERA with C A.J. Pierzynski behind the plate.
