Mexican Baseball League officials say OF Jose Canseco has acknowledged that he took a banned substance for which he has no prescription and will not play as expected in the league. Plinio Escalante, president of the Mexican League, confirmed to ESPN Deportes that the banned substance is testosterone. Canseco refused to take a drug test.

Former Oakland Athletics OF Jose Canseco plans to reiterate his previous support of Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees SP Roger Clemens when the former slugger testifies before a federal grand jury next week, according to The Associated Press. In the sworn statement, dated March 2008, Canseco wrote: "I have never seen Clemens use, possess, or ask for steroids or human growth hormone."

"There is something very strange going on here, and I'm wondering what it is. I even polygraphed that subject matter, that I injected him, and passed it completely. So I want to challenge him on national TV to a polygraph examination. I want to see him call me a liar under a polygraph examination." Canseco also said that manager Tony La Russa knew that McGwire was using steroids during his playing days.

Providence Journal blogger Mike McDermott reports former major league baseball player Jose Canseco congratulated his former Oakland Athletics teammate Mark McGwire for landing a job as hitting instructor with the St. Louis Cardinals, and also expressed regret over writing the book "Juiced," which helped blow the lid of the steroid scandal in baseball. "In hindsight, I destroyed my life. I destroyed people's lives around me. I embarrassed a lot of players and if I could turn back the hands in time, I would do it a different way, I would definitely do it," Canseco said.

The Associated Press reports former MLB OF Jose Canseco is planning on filing a class-action lawsuit against Major League Baseball and the players' association, claiming he has been ostracized for going public with stories of steroids use in the sport. "Because I used steroids and I came out with a book, I was kicked out of the game, but I have not been inducted into the Hall of Fame," Canseco said.

"My first thought was: 'I wonder who's going to be the first one to shoot him,' " Kittle said. Monday. "I still think somebody who might have had their life ruined might take vengeance on him. If I were Canseco, I would think about that."
