New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (hamstring) is scheduled to play three innings in a minor league rehab game Thursday, April 17, and could return from the disabled list as early as Sunday, April 20. Teixeira took a full batting practice at the team's complex in Florida Wednesday, April 16, and ran the bases.
Fantasy Tip: Teixeira's hammy strain was the least severe kind, enabling him to recover rather quickly from it. Still, don't be surprised if the Yankees are extra cautious and wait to bring him back sometime next week.

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (hamstring) will work out at the team's spring training complex Wednesday, April 16, but manager Joe Girardi is unsure when he'll play in a rehab game.
Fantasy Tip: Teixeira is targeting this Sunday to come off the DL and play for the Yankees, but that seems like a very optimistic date, considering he doesn't have a rehab assignment in sights. Be prepared for him to not be ready when he's eligible to be activated.

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (hamstring) and SS Brendan Ryan (back) are not close to returning to the team. Manager Joe Girardi said Ryan "may have started some light baseball activity today." Teixeira has been limited to stretching and riding an exercise bike.
Fantasy Tip: It's not a surprise that neither player will come off the 15-day DL when they're eligible. Tex is notorious as a slow healer and Ryan is dealing with a potential serious injury.

The New York Yankees have placed 1B Mark Teixeira (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list with a strained hamstring.
Fantasy Tip: Kelly Johnson will play first base while Teixeira is out of the lineup and is valuable in mixed leagues, especially since he'll likely add first base to his position eligibility. Yangervis Solarte is expected to see most of the starts at the hot corner now. Take a look at the utility infielder in AL-only formats.

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (hamstring) is not optimistic about his strained hamstring. Teixeira said he expects to have an MRI on the injury when he returns to New York. "We'll see how it feels in the morning, but I'm not super optimistic about it," Teixeira said.
"I definitely don't want to go on the DL. I'm really hoping that tomorrow morning, I wake up, we go through some stuff with the doctors and it feels good. But we'll see."

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (hamstring) suffered a strained right hamstring during the game Friday, April 4.
Fantasy Tip: Kelly Johnson likely will take over at first base if Teixeira misses a decent amount of time. Johnson could become an option in mixed leagues especially if he gains first base eligibility. Yangervis Solarte and Dean Anna could see time at third base if Johnson moves to first base. Both could have value in AL-only leagues, but Solarte should be the top target. Teixeira could be placed on the disabled list if the injury will take weeks to heal.
