The Philadelphia Phillies placed OF Laynce Nix (calf) and RP Chad Qualls (knee) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 11. RPs Jake Diekman and Raul Valdes and INF Hector Luna were recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in corresponding moves.

Philadelphia Phillies Ps Jake Diekman and Raul Valdes and INF Hector Luna are expected to be called up before the game Friday, May 11, with RP Brian Sanches and C Erik Kratz likely to be sent down. OF Laynce Nix (calf) is also a candidate to go on the disabled list with a strained left calf, although he's listed as day-to-day.

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies OF Laynce Nix (calf) said Wednesday, May 9, that it is possible he will need a stint on the 15-day disabled list after aggravating his strained left calf in the game Wednesday.

Philadelphia Phillies OF Laynce Nix, making the start at first base, and OF Peter Orr, making the start at second base, each had strong games at the plate Tuesday, April 24, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Nix went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Orr had a single and triple with three RBIs in four at-bats.
