The Pittsburgh Pirates offered 1B Derrek Lee (Type B) arbitration, but didn't offer it to OF Ryan Ludwick or C Chris Snyder. The Pirates already received a draft pick when C Ryan Doumit (Type B) signed with the Minnesota Twins.

The Minnesota Twins have contacted Matt Sosnick, the agent for free-agent OF Josh Willingham (Athletics) and C Ryan Doumit (Pirates). The team hasn't made any offers, and both players are unlikely to sign until sometime in early December. The team will likely intensify their pursuit of both Willingham and Doumit if they can't re-sign OFs Michael Cuddyer and Jason Kubel.

Free-agent C Ryan Doumit (Pirates) is expected to sign a deal within the next few days, his agent said Saturday, Nov. 12. He received two more offers Saturday from unspecified clubs, although he has one deal on the table from an NL team. It is believed he'll receive more interest from American League clubs due to the designated hitter rule, since he is viewed as a poor defensive catcher.
