Minnesota Twins C Ryan Doumit (calf) was not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 24, because he felt soreness in his calf after running out two base hits Tuesday, May 22. The team may push back when Doumit catches again because of the injury. Doumit caught a bullpen session Tuesday, but the team wants him to catch a few more sessions and throw to the bases before putting him into a game at catcher.

Updating previous reports, Minnesota Twins C Ryan Doumit (calf) had an MRI exam on Wednesday, May 16, and the team said the results came back favorable. He was not placed on the disabled list, where he was expected to land.

Minnesota Twins OF Ryan Doumit made the start in right field and he batted sixth in manager Ron Gardenhire's opening day lineup Friday, April 6, against the Baltimore Orioles. He was hitless in four at-bats with two strikeouts. In the sixth inning, Doumit failed to make a grab near the wall while looking into the sun. "That ball was in the deepest part of the field, right at the wall, middle part of the sun right in his face," Gardenhire said. "A really tough play."

Minnesota Twins SP Carl Pavano gave up just one run and four hits in four innings against the Tampa Bay Rays Monday, March 12, and he was pleased with his velocity, hitting 88 mph on the radar gun after topping out at 84 mph in his last spring start. "I felt better," Pavano said. "I think my arm strength was better. I was able to peek at some velocities. It's showing the arm strength is better and some of the pitches were sharper than they were the first two outings." It was the first time Pavano worked with C Ryan Doumit, who threw out two base runners trying to steal.
