However, he will likely be place on Injured Reserve. Although no decision has been made at this point, there are a couple of factors that point in that direction. One, the Lions are fairly deep at the left defensive end position. Secondly, DeVries is 34 years old and hasn't been involved in any significant football activity since 2008. DeVries suffered a tear in his Achilles' tendon early in training camp last year, had surgery and was lost for the season.

DeVries, who has missed virtually all of camp with the injury, was seeking a second medical opinion Wednesday, Aug. 25. "We are still waiting on the results," head coach Jim Schwartz said. "Whether or not he goes on IR depends on what the medical opinion is. Is he going to need surgery or not and how long will he be out if (the knee) needs surgery?"
