The LA Times' Mike DiGiovanna reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Phil Seibel will remain in the bullpen despite injuries to SP Jered Weaver (biceps) and SP Bartolo Colon (shoulder). "We think Seibel's role in the big leagues is out of the bullpen," said Angels manager Mike Scioscia. "I think the way his stuff is, the way his arm is, he's well-suited for relief, whether it's as a left-handed specialist or a guy who could throw one or two innings."

Angels.MLB.com's Mike Scarr reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim left-handed RP Phil Seibel is expected to compete with right-handed RP Chris Resop for the sixth spot in the bullpen. He has experience both starting and relieving and could be used in both roles during Spring Training, but if he makes the club it would likely be as a reliever, according to Angels general manager Bill Stoneman. Seibel throws about 90 tops with good control and an above-average curveball. He also has a Minor League option left.

Redsox.MLB.com's Ian Browne reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Phil Seibel (elbow), who underwent Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery in 2005, recovered quickly and went 6-3 with a 1.25 ERA in 29 games (13 starts) in 2006 with three different farm clubs in the Boston Red Sox organization. Seibel was recently acquired from the Red Sox.
