Darren Urban, of the East Valley Tribune, reports former NFL DT Eric Swann (Panthers) has called the Arizona Cardinals about a possible comeback. Swann said he has not heard back from the team.

Redskins | Two New On the List?

According to the Washington Post, the Washington Redskins are exploring the possibility of signing free agent OL Rich Tylski, just released by the Steelers. Also, agent Steve Zucker, who represents DT Eric Swann, said he plans to speak to the Redskins about his client. Redskins officials seemed to have concerns about Swann who was plagued by knee problems during his 10 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers.

Panthers | Swann Done?

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports DT Eric Swann, who played last season with the Carolina Panthers and previously with the Arizona Cardinals, has decided to retire. He has been troubled by a chronic arthritic condition in his left knee. The retirement announcement is expected sometime this week.

The Chicago Tribune reports the Chicago Bears are planning to bring in free agent DT Eric Swann (Panthers) for a visit soon. No date has been set. The Bears showed interest in Swann last off-season before he signed with Carolina.

According to Dan Pompei of the Sporting News, DT Eric Swann may have played his last games as a member of the Carolina Panthers. He thought the Panthers might have played him too much too soon last season before his knee was 100% healthy.

The Gaston Gazette reports Carolina Panthers DT Eric Swann will undergo an intensive rehabilitation program during the off-season to improve the strength in his quadriceps and surrounding areas of his knee. Swann has been playing but hasn't been very productive. However, he still feels he'll be able to return to form down the road.

According to the Arizona Republic, Cardinals DT Eric Swann remains quiet regarding his recovery from last year's major knee surgery. His agent, Steve Zucker, was being quiet on the matter as well until he spoke up to deny a story that Swann had some type of surgery recently. "I have not talked to him in a while, but the impression I get from the medical people is that he's on time and on line to return once the season starts," said Cards defensive coordinator Dave McGinnis. Swann did recently play in a charity golf tournament put on by teammate Mike Devlin. At this point the team is preparing as though Swann will be there for the season opener.

Cardinals GM Bob Ferguson was on KMVP radio in Phoenix this evening reporting that DT Eric Swann is having an elective surgery of a personal nature and by no way will it impact his NFL career and that he should be 100 percent for the beginning of the season.

The Arizona Republic reports the Arizona Cardinals have given DL Rashod Swinger a new two-year deal worth around $600,000. He saw extensive action a year ago due to the injury to DL Eric Swann. In other news, WR Andy McCullough continues to light up the score board in NFL Europe and has hauled in 27 receptions for 440 yards with 4 TDs.
