Former Miami Dolphins QB Dan Marino, who sits next to hot coaching prospect Bill Cowher as part of the CBS NFL pregame show, doesn't think his friend and colleague will coach any team in 2012. "I would love to see (Bill Cowher) be the Dolphins coach or if he wanted to coach again because that would be great for the NFL, but I don't think his mindset is that he wants to coach again," Marino said.

Former Miami Dolphins QB Dan Marino said he would pursue Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer in a trade if he were running the team, according to Barry Jackson, of The Miami Herald. However, Marino added he would not give up a high draft choice to acquire Palmer. "I've always liked Carson," Marino said. "For a third-rounder, I would do it."

The Associated Press reports Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning was 31-for-41 for 353 yards with two touchdown passes and an interception Week 4. Manning threw his first touchdown pass to WR Reggie Wayne, making Manning and former Miami Dolphins QB Dan Marino as the only quarterbacks to throw 55 touchdown passes to two different receivers. Manning's second touchdown pass tied him with former NFL QB Fran Tarkenton for third place on the NFL's career touchdown passing list. Both Manning and Tarkenton have 342 touchdown passes.

Peter King, of SI.com, reports New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees has thrown for 13,910 yards over his last three years. In the 89-year history of the National Football League, only one player has thrown for more yards in a three-year period than Brees. Former QB Dan Marino threw for 13,967 yards between 1984-86.

The Associated Press reports New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees went 30-for-49 for 386 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in the team's Week 17 game. He finished the season with 5,069 yards, which was 15 yards short of the single-season NFL record held by former NFL QB Dan Marino. He did become only the second quarterback to pass for at least 5,000 yards.
