San Francisco Giants RP Ramon Ramirez worked a perfect 11th inning Sunday, Aug. 21, against the Houston Astros for his third save. He was working in the save chance because RP Jeremy Affeldt already worked two innings before him. Affeldt and Ramirez are part of a four-pitcher closer-by-committee while RP Brian Wilson (elbow) is on the 15-day disabled list.

San Francisco Giants C Eli Whiteside and RP Ramon Ramirez weren't suspended in the incident with the Philadelphia Phillies over the weekend, which was criticized by some. According to a source, pitchers only get suspended for throwing near someone's head or after a warning has been issues. Whiteside wasn't suspended because he was viewed as trying to protect his pitcher. Philadelphia Phillies OF Shane Victorino was suspended three games because he was viewed as very aggressive, pushing past the umpire and jumping on a pile.
