Former MLB OF Adam Piatt has been named in the Mitchell Report. After personal trainer and former employee of the New York Mets Kirk Radomski's guilty plea was publicly announced, Piatt's lawyer contacted investigators. Piatt voluntarily admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs and took full responsibility for his actions.

Updating a previous item, The Akron Beacon Journal is reporting Cleveland Indians 3B Adam Piatt has chosen to retire. Piatt left the team for personal reasons at the start of the week.

Paul C. Smith, writing for DevilRays.MLB.com, reports Tampa Bay Devil Rays recently acquired OF Adam Piatt will play Saturday, August 23, against Cleveland Indians SP C.C. Sabathia – his first start as a Devil Ray. "We'll give him a couple days to hit some balls and get acclimated. He hasn't played in a while," manager Lou Piniella said.

The Associated Press is reporting the Oakland Athletics designated OF Adam Piatt for assignment to make room for the return of P Jim Mecir (knee) to the active roster. The team has 10 days to trade Piatt, release him or send him to the minors.

Athletics.MLB.com's Kent Schacht reports Oakland Athletics OF Adam Piatt is being pushed to produce by manager Ken Macha. "I think he's at the point where he's gotta start justifying to baseball that he's a player," Macha said. "He had a great year in the minor leagues -- he was minor league player of the year -- and he's had some flashes of doing some real good things here."
