Rangers | Josh Hamilton heating up in minors

Wed, 20 May 2015 14:06:58 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) is 4-for-7 with five runs, a double, a home run and three RBI over his past two games with Class AAA Round Rock (Texas).

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) could return to the Rangers as soon as Monday, May 25. At this point, he should be owned in all fantasy formats, as there is plenty of upside. Just don't expect Hamilton to turn any teams -- real or fake -- around on his own. His FantasyScore price screams profit potential, too.

Rangers | Josh Hamilton returning vs. Indians?

Wed, 20 May 2015 08:44:34 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) will return to Class AAA Round Rock Thursday, May 21, and remain there through Saturday, May 23, before being reevaluated by the Rangers. He appears likely to return to the majors as soon as Monday, May 25, against the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton is getting close to making his 2015 debut, and he could be a low-cost play at just $3,100 (6.2% of cap) on FantasyScore if he shows signs of life early on.

Rangers | Josh Hamilton needs more innings

Tue, 19 May 2015 19:30:51 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) said Tuesday, May 19, he's close to joining the Rangers, but he still needs to get some innings to get his legs under him.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) will be rather conservatively priced to start the season, and he could be an instant bargain. Back in the comfortable confines of Arlington, Hamilton is a free add with nothing but upside for season-long owners.

Rangers | Josh Hamilton may be ready

Sun, 17 May 2015 13:37:39 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton may join the parent club as early as this week, sources indicate. Hamilton is hitting .333 in seven minor-league games.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) may be a decent buy at this price when he gets promoted. He always hit well in Texas, and being away from the limelights of Los Angeles may be the jump-start his career needs. Keep an eye on Hamilton and the matchup when he is brought up.

Rangers | Josh Hamilton could return next week

Sun, 17 May 2015 13:37:39 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) could return and make his season debut with the Rangers next week against the Cleveland Indians on the road. General manager Jon Daniels also said the team has no concerns if Hamilton returns to make his debut on the road against the New York Yankees this weekend. Hamilton went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and an RBI for Class AA Frisco (Texas) Saturday, May 16. He was 1-for-4 with a double Sunday, May 17, and he'll take the day off Monday, May 18, before playing again Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) should definitely be stashed in all leagues at this point with his season debut quickly approaching. The Rangers might ease Hamilton into an everyday role in left field initially, but he figures to eventually see most of the starts in the outfield once he proves he's fully healthy. Take a wait-and-see approach with him at FantasyScore. Delino DeShields ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), who has made the most of his opportunities of late, may find himself in a reserve role once again once Hamilton returns.

Rangers | Josh Hamilton to continue rehabbing

Thu, 14 May 2015 12:22:36 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) will head to Class AA Frisco (Texas) to play Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, and he'll also play for them Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: The Rangers will re-evaluate Hamilton ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) early next week, at which point they could decide that he's ready to make his season debut in the bigs. His return will come with plenty of fanfare and media attention, but the Rangers are likely to ease him back into left field or as the DH. Stash him in all leagues if he's available. It'd be wise to refrain from using him immediately at FantasyScore.

Rangers | Josh Hamilton continues rehab

Tue, 12 May 2015 08:58:47 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) went 0-for-4 in another rehab game with Class AAA Round Rock (Texas) Monday, May 11, and he played left field for the first seven innings. He is 1-for-7 with a .143 average in his first two rehab games. Hamilton hit .305 with 142 home runs and 506 RBI in his five years with the Rangers. He is feeling good and looked good on defense, too. "I think the offense is more of a timing issue. This is somewhat of a spring training for him so he's got to get some at-bats under his belt. His batting practice is very good so it's a matter of time before he starts getting to where he needs to be offensively," Express manager Jason Wood said. Hamilton will remain with Round rock Tuesday, May 12.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,100) could join the Rangers to make his season debut in a week or two once they feel he has his offensive timing down at the plate in the minors. There's no guarantee he'll return to being the stud he was with Texas before, but he can no doubt help fantasy owners if he's fully healthy with an everyday spot in the outfield. Take a wait-and-see approach with him at FantasyScore when he's back.

Rangers | Josh Hamilton has hit in rehab game

Mon, 11 May 2015 09:15:10 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) went 1-fo-3 with a single and two strikeouts in his first rehab game with Class AAA Round Rock (Texas) Sunday, May 10. Oakland Athletics SP Barry Zito struck Hamilton out twice. Hamilton said his body is feeling good, but he has no timetable for when he might join the Rangers.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) could make his season debut with the Rangers later this month if he doesn't have any setbacks while playing in the minors. He should be owned in all fantasy baseball leagues, but prepare to take a wait-and-see approach with him initially at FantasyScore.

Rangers | Josh Hamilton rehab update

Sat, 09 May 2015 10:50:17 -0700

Updating a previous report, Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) could begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock as soon as Sunday, May 10. He is expected to spend a few weeks there before being activated from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton's ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) shoulder appears to be structurally sound, according to multiple team officials. The primary purpose of the rehab assignment is to insure that he receives plenty of playing time prior to returning to the majors. He is worth stashing in seasonal leagues, while FantasyScore owners will probably want to see him play in several games after being activated before using him.

Rangers | Josh Hamilton done extended spring play

Fri, 08 May 2015 15:08:07 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (shoulder) finished extended spring training going 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Friday, May 8.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is worth stashing in the majority of seasonal leagues. He is working his way back, and while he struggled with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim the past few seasons, his familiarity with Texas could propel him back to being a capable contributor in the fake game. FantasyScore players will want to take a wait-and-see approach with Hamilton when he joins the Rangers.
