Detroit Lions C Dominic Raiola's cut block against the New England Patriots Sunday, Nov. 23, is being looked into by the league, according to Lions head coach Jim Caldwell. Caldwell said Raiola will not be punished by the team but could still face discipline from the league. Raiola attempted to cut block New England Patriots DL Zach Moore on the final play of New England's 34-9 victory.

Detroit Lions C Dominic Raiola said he would be fine with the team selecting a center during the 2014 NFL Draft, because he understands that he is near the end of his career. "I've always been a team guy," Raiola said. "As long as I'm doing my job, I should have a job on the field. I'm not going to last forever. It's not an easy position to learn. If they draft somebody, so be it. I guess I get to teach him. I'm not going to have any hard feelings. I'm not that kind of teammate."

Detroit Lions C Dominic Raiola knows he will have to earn his starting spot in 2014. "Last year was kind of like a proving year, like earning my keep, earning my job, earning my starting status," said Raiola, who has missed only four games in his career. "I'm going to take it the same way. I know I'm getting older.
"I'm not going to be paid like a young guy anymore; you see all these centers getting paid. I want to play like those guys. I want to play like (Cleveland's) Alex Mack. I want to play like (Philadelphia's) Jason Kelce.

The Detroit Lions re-signed C Dominic Raiola to a one-year contract Friday, Feb. 7. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed, but he'll reportedly receive a nice raise from his contract last year.
