Lions | Fans rip Stafford during Week 8 Tue, 03 Nov 2009 07:03:56 -0800 Tom Kowalski, of Mlive.com, reports Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford downplayed an incident in which C Dominic Raiola yelled at fans during the team's Week 8 home loss. In an interview with a Detroit radio station Monday, Nov. 2, Stafford said he was standing on the sideline near the end of the game when some fans starting ridiculing him. Raiola, who was standing nearby, ripped into the fans. "It did strike a chord,'' Raiola said. "You've got three or four guys yelling at him ... you want to run him out of town already? You know what I'm saying? That just hit home with me. Because I've been through it with Joey (Harrington), I've been through it. They sent him packing, and they're not going to do it to this guy. I'm going to be right here next to him.'' Stafford added, "(Raiola's) right. They're not going to run me out of town. I'm not too worried about it. They didn't get to me, so I'm cool with it.''

Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Lions C Dominic Raiola is excited about the team's new offensive approach under offensive coordinator Jim Colletto. Raiola said it will give everyone a chance to do what offensive lineman like to do, which is run the football. He said Colletto brings a run-first mentality to the offense. Raiola said former offensive coordinator Mike Martz had a different approach and liked to pass the ball before running it. Raiola feels the team will not lose any aggressiveness with their new offense, it is just a different style of play. The new offense will involve fewer plays, with fewer shifts and motions, but will still feature audibles.
Lions | Raiola warned about inappropriate comments Fri, 10 Nov 2006 22:11:28 -0800 Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports Detroit Lions C Dominic Raiola has been warned by NFL officials that comments he made about Atlanta Falcons CB DeAngelo Hall after the Week 9 game were inappropriate. Hall hit Lions QB Jon Kitna late during the game and drew a 15-yard personal foul penalty. Raiola labeled Hall "a cheap-shot artist" after the game and claimed that he will "try to take [Hall's] head off" if the teams meet again in the future.

Different players have been playing pickup basketball together and CB Dre' Bly has been eating lunch with the quarterbacks. There was a definite split between the team during the 2005 season, according to C Dominic Raiola. Raiola added, "That was tough to play with. Understandably, the defense wasn't happy with us. We continued to lay eggs every year I've been here -- five years in a row." With new head coach Rod Marinelli, the team is starting to unite again. Bly said, "We've been together, man, ever since we brought in my new coach. He brought unity here, man. The chemistry's great, man, amongst the whole team."
