Head coach Mike Holmgren said WR Peter Warrick is the leading candidate to be the team's punt returner this year. Warrick lost the job to CB Jimmy Williams early in 2005 before getting it back before the NFC Championship Game. Warrick is trying to win the job over Williams; WR Keenan Howry, a former Minnesota Vikings return specialist; and WR Ben Obomanu, a seventh-round draft pick who didn't get many returns at Auburn. WR Kevin Kasper could be a candidate as well. "The one area that we really, really need to improve is our punt-return game," special teams coach Bob Casullo said. "We were not very good last year, and I'm not putting the blame on the returner. There were a lot of missed blocks. There were a lot of players that didn't do what they were asked to do, and I need to do a better job coaching."

Big competition is guys like Kelly (Campbell) and (Keenan Howry) are fighting for that fifth spot right now. Maybe one of them can make us keep six. We'll see how it works out as we progress." Howry isn't as fast as Campbell, but proved he was valuable last season with his punt returning abilities and is currently the team's No. 1 punt returner. Although Campbell is higher on the depth chart, Tice has said how big of a loss Howry was last year and could pass on Campbell for Howry depending on how the rest of camp goes.
