The Cleveland Browns are expected to be active in exploring free-agent wide receivers. Their receiving corps doesn't have much size outside of likely suspended WR Josh Gordon. WRs Miles Austin and Nate Burleson have long injury histories. Cleveland may pursue CFL standout Duron Carter, son of Hall of Famer Cris Carter, once his season is complete.
Fantasy Tip: Andrew Hawkins could be a candidate to emerge out of the slot, but he's anything but tall. We wouldn't throw much at any of the non-Gordon wideouts until Cleveland finalizes its roster and depth chart.

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 08:22:15 -0700

Tue, 03 Jun 2014 13:57:37 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Nate Burleson (arm) said he did not fracture his arm during an April minicamp and it was just a minor injury. He said the severity of the injury was exaggerated. Because there was no fracture, Burleson was able to run and lift weights with the cast on.
Fantasy Tip: There are a lot of unknowns in the Browns passing game right now. Most importantly, Josh Gordon's suspension length and who is going to start at quarterback. Burleson could emerge as a WR4 and have some value through the bye weeks, but is best left on the waiver wire until some of the Browns' question marks are answered.

Fri, 09 May 2014 19:33:14 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Nate Burleson (arm) suffered a fractured arm during offseason workouts but is expected to be ready for the start of training camp. It is the same arm he injured during the 2013 season.
Fantasy Tip: It wouldn't be a surprise if Burleson is forced to sit out the 2014 season. With Josh Gordon facing a year-long ban, Greg Little figures to open the year as the No. 1 wideout, with Andrew Hawkins and Travis Benjamin picking up scraps. Little could be a decent WR3/4 if you're willing to take that leap of faith. Look for Cleveland to address their wide receiver needs in the draft or in free agency.
Fri, 09 May 2014 15:45:22 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is facing a year-long suspension after another failed drug test months ago for marijuana, according to sources. "That's something you're going to have to talk to (agent) Drew Rosenhaus about. I really don't know anything about it," Gordon said. Rosenhaus didn't comment, other to say the report was "not true." Gordon had drug-testing problems in college, as well, and was dismissed from Baylor after being suspended for marijuana use twice.
Fantasy Tip: Gordon has the right to appeal if this report is true. Gordon developed into an elite wideout last season after serving a two-game suspension, so this would be a huge blow to the Browns offense. Greg Little would effectively become their No. 1 receiver, with Nate Burleson and others filling in behind him. Expect Cleveland to address the position in the draft, as well.

Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh's presence on the roster comes with a price tag of $22.4 million, which gives the team almost no flexibility to do anything else in free agency. Even with the extra $11.5 million the team saved by releasing S Louis Delmas and WR Nate Burleson, the Lions do not have enough cap space to sign all of the team's prospective draft picks this May. Still, Lions president Tom Lewand would like to get Suh under contract, even if some pieces have to be moved into different places.

Detroit Lions WR Nate Burleson (forearm) will wear a Kevlar brace on his arm when he returns to action, and he'll have to change the way he plays in order to stay healthy. "I'm not going to be diving over piles and trying to run people over," Burleson said. "I'm going to try to have a little bit of preservation to the way I play. But I'm not concerned about that one bit. I'm actually looking forward to it and like I said, I get paid to play and I haven't played in a long time, so I've got a lot of time to make up for it."
Fantasy Tip: Remember, Burleson isn't exactly a lock to play in Week 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For that reason, he's best left on your bench if he's still on your roster.
Tue, 19 Nov 2013 13:25:19 -0800
Detroit Lions WR Nate Burleson (forearm) thinks he is ready to return in Week 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "I feel like I can go out there and be productive," Burleson said. Wed, 13 Nov 2013 20:43:16 -0800
Detroit Lions WR Nate Burleson (forearm) was able to run routes against the defense in practice Wednesday, Nov. 13. It was the first time he has done that since breaking his forearm Sept. 24. Still, his status for Week 11 against the Pittsburgh Steelers is uncertain. He has been being careful with his injury, since there might be more football left beyond Week 17. "We're in a good position. If the season was different and there was a sense of urgency of guys needing to be out there, I'd take a pain pull and say, 'Let's do it.' That's just my personality," Burleson said. "The way the way is playing there is an ease in my spirit that I don't have to rush it."
Burleson has X-rays Tuesday, Sept. 12, and he said everything looked great. There is healing and calcification, which is what the doctors need to see before they sign off on his return.

Wed, 06 Nov 2013 11:23:45 -0800
Detroit Lions WR Nate Burleson (forearm) has returned to practice, but he doesn't sound very optimistic that he'll be back on the field in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears. "I'm not going to sit here and pull an RG3 and talk over what is common sense and that's listen to my coaches and listen to the doctors," Burleson said. "I want to play and that's just me being a competitor. That doesn't mean that my arm is ready to be out there for 60 minutes. I'm going to talk with the coaches, talk with the trainers and talk with the doctors and figure out if this week, next week or the week after is best for me." Burleson did positional drills and wore a Kevlar brace over his arm in practice Tuesday, Nov. 5. He has most of the grip strength back in his left hand.
Fantasy Tip: If we had to guess, we'd think Detroit plays it safe and holds Burleson out for another week. When he returns, he'll be the No. 2 wideout opposite Calvin Johnson, which will limit Kris Durham's value for the rest of the year.
