Terry Foster, of The Detroit News, reports Detroit Lions RB Artose Pinner has lost 11 pounds this offseason and now weighs 222 pounds. Pinner said losing weight allowed him to be more aggressive and hit the holes quicker. Pinner is clinging to his roster spot, but he is still fighting for the fourth running back position.

The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings RB Artose Pinner ran for a career-high 125 yards and three touchdowns during the Vikings 30-20 win over the Detroit Lions Week 14. The Lions had cut Pinner three months ago, but he insisted it was more satisfying to help the Vikings remain in the postseason hunt.

Kevin Seifert, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings RB Artose Pinner was used as a kickoff returner during the Week 3 game. Head coach Brad Childress said he used Pinner "to save a little bit of wear and tear" on WR Troy Williamson, who is normally the team's kickoff returner.

Tom Kowalski, of mlive.com, reports Detroit Lions RB Artose Pinner faces an uphill battle to land a roster spot. With RBs Kevin Jones and Arlen Harris holding down the Lions' top running back positions; the addition of rookie RB Brian Calhoun may have sealed the end of his stay in Detroit for Pinner. "My whole thing, since college, is that I've never had the chance to come in and be `that guy.' Nothing has ever been given to me so I've always had to work," Pinner said. "I'm looking forward to working and making plays for this team and making this team." Pinner has raised his game in training camp, so far. Pinner dropped 10 pounds to increase his speed and agility and he has looked good in training camp. As the No. 4 back in the rotation, he doesn't get a lot of practice repetitions, but he's sparkled when he's had the chance. If the Lions do cut Pinner, it won't be until late in the preseason. He is great insurance in case another back is injured before the regular season.
