The Denver Broncos have announced former NFL WR Ed McCaffrey has been named the Vice President of Sports & Entertainment with Exclusive Resorts, a luxury residence-based company.

The Denver Post reports WR Ed McCaffrey has retired from the NFL after 13 seasons. Rather than accept a restructured contract from the Denver Broncos for the second consecutive year, McCaffrey opted for retirement.

Andrew Mason, of DenverBroncos.com, reports Denver Broncos WR Ed McCaffrey has scheduled a press conference for Tuesday, March 2, at the team's training complex. McCaffrey is expected to announce his future plans with the team, which could include a restructuring of his current contract or perhaps retirement. The 13-year veteran is due $4.5 million in 2004 under his existing deal.

Lynn DeBruin, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports Denver Broncos WR Ed McCaffrey met with head coach Mike Shanahan Friday, Feb. 27, to talk about his future and he's currently weighing his options. One possibility is that he'll choose to retire, while another is to restructure his contract and remain with the Broncos as their No. 3 receiver this season. He's scheduled to earn $4.5 million in 2004.

Denver Broncos WR Ed McCaffrey (concussion) was experiencing headaches and grogginess after his second concussion in three games and his status for the Sunday, Jan. 4, wild card game is questionable. The MRI and CATscan both came back normal so that's good news, but until he feels good enough to practice he won't. McCaffrey knows his career is winding down, and he wants to be a part of the playoff run, but he's also a father of four and won't do anything stupid.

Denver Broncos WR Ed McCaffrey (concussion) was undergoing a series of tests Monday, Dec. 29, after suffering his second concussion in three games. The good news is that both an MRI and Catscan done were negative, but coaches couldn't say for sure if McCaffrey would be ready to practice Wednesday, Dec. 31, and play in the Sunday, Jan. 4, wild-card game at the Indianapolis Colts.
