Mon, 20 May 2013 15:57:01 -0700 Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning said RB Ronnie Hillman will be counted on to have an increased role in the offense this year, and offensive coordinator Adam Gase is expected to utilize him more in the game plan. Manning has high expectations for Hillman this season. Fantasy Tip: The Broncos coaching staff thinks highly of Hillman, too, so he will be used frequently. Unfortunately, Willis McGahee, Knowshon Moreno and Montee Ball are all in the picture, too, so playing time is tough to predict right now. Hillman should be a nice late-round selection, though, especially in point-per-reception leagues.
Mon, 20 May 2013 09:58:05 -0700 Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (leg, knee) will not take part in the team's organized team activities Monday, May 20, but it's the same approach he's had in the past for offseason workouts. "He's following the same routine he's done his whole career. He'll be there," agent Chafie Fields told said. "He's ready to compete. No messages." McGahee is coming off a torn medial collateral ligament in his knee and a broken leg. Fantasy Tip: Rumors have been swirling this offseason that McGahee and Knowshon Moreno will battle for one roster spot in training camp after the team drafted Montee Ball in the second round of the draft. Both McGahee and Moreno were productive behind Peyton Manning, but if McGahee can't prove he's healthy this summer, he might be cut. If he wins the starting job, consider him a solid RB3.
Wed, 08 May 2013 10:31:29 -0700 Denver Broncos RBs Knowshon Moreno and Willis McGahee likely will compete for one roster spot during training camp because the team probably will not keep both. Moreno could have an edge for the No. 3 running back job because he is younger, less expensive and a better receiver than McGahee. Fantasy Tip: The Broncos would like to go with Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman as their top two running backs this season, so Moreno and McGahee likely will be competing for the No. 3 RB job. Neither running back would have much fantasy value as the third running back. Whoever wins the competition should not be drafted in fantasy leagues this season.
Tue, 07 May 2013 10:40:17 -0700 Denver Broncos executive vice president John Elway and head coach John Fox expect RB Montee Ball to compete for a starting job amongst RBs Willis McGahee, Knowshon Moreno and Ronnie Hillman this year. The team envisions Ball as an every-down back in the NFL. "We expect all these guys to contribute," Elway said. "The earlier you go, the more we hope they contribute." Fantasy Tip: It would take a lot for Ball to win the starting running back job over both McGahee and Moreno. Hillman is in the picture, too, although he's more of a change-of-pace back. For now, don't prepare to draft Ball unless McGahee or Moreno suffer an injury in training camp or the preseason.
Tue, 07 May 2013 10:37:58 -0700 ESPN.com's Bill Williamson suspects that Denver Broncos RBs Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman will receive some primary carries this year as the team looks to move away from older RBs Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno. Hillman is more of a third-down change-of-pace back, and the Broncos like the way Ball runs, his durability and that he can also catch the ball out of the backfield. Fantasy Tip: Ball's usage this year is purely speculative at this stage. We won't know more until training camp, probably. With McGahee, Moreno and Hillman all on roster still, though, it's hard to envision Ball making much, if any, fantasy impact in 2013 unless injuries crop up. He's not worth a draft pick this year unless you're in a keeper league.
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 05:49:16 -0700 Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations John Elway said RB Willis McGahee is part of the team's plans at running back for 2013. "With where we are right now, McGahee is that big back for us right now," Elway said. Elway added RB Ronnie Hillman is expected to serve as the change-of-pace back.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 13:42:08 -0700 Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations John Elway said the team sees RB Willis McGahee as a big back and RB Ronnie Hillman as a change-of-pace back. "With (Willis) McGahee, he's our big back right now," Elway said. "We have Ronnie Hillman who's a 190-pounder change-of-pace type guy. We look at Willis as being that big back for us right now, and then we'll see what happens in the draft."
Fri, 05 Apr 2013 10:58:39 -0700 The Denver Broncos consider RB Willis McGahee as a complementary running back at this point and believe he will be more productive if they reduce the number of carries he receives. Fantasy Tip: It appears like McGahee will not be the main focus in the team's running attack next season and may become part of a running back by committee. He probably will not be an every-week starter but more will be known closer to training camp.
Fri, 05 Apr 2013 08:18:24 -0700 The Denver Broncos will not keep status quo at the running back position heading into the 2013 season. RBs Knowshon Moreno (knee) and Willis McGahee (knee) are coming back from injuries. By the time training camp opens, the team will have at least one more back who they believe could take carries as a potential starter in the offense.
Wed, 06 Feb 2013 18:21:27 -0800 The Denver Broncos face a decision on RB Willis McGahee heading into 2013. He finished the season on Injured Reserve, and was tied for the league lead in fumbles lost at running back when he suffered the injury. Fantasy Tip: McGahee will turn 32, and he has two years remaining on his contract. The team is looking to add size at the position, so McGahee might not be back. If he does stay in Denver, or latch on with another organization, he proved he still has something left in the tank. However, he is likely to be more of a complementary RB rather than workhorse. As such, he is best viewed as a RB3 or flex option heading into 2013.
Tue, 22 Jan 2013 13:58:14 -0800 NFL draft prospect RB Marcus Lattimore said he has spoken to Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee) about coming back from a serious knee injury.

"He's worked very hard," Fox said. "(Head Athletic Trainer Steve Antonopoulos), his staff and Willis have worked very hard to get him back. He had a good first day." McGahee is eligible to return to game action for the AFC Championship Game, should the Broncos advance past this weekend's Divisional Round game.
Tue, 08 Jan 2013 11:39:45 -0800 Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee) returned to the practice field Tuesday, Jan. 8. McGahee is not eligible to play in this week's game, but would be eligible to play if the Broncos advanced to the AFC Championship game.

Mon, 07 Jan 2013 12:47:08 -0800 The Denver Broncos have employed a next-man-up attitude at running back this year after RB Willis McGahee (knee) went down, and the team has been successful with RB Knowshon Moreno in his absence. Their 114.5 yards rushing per game ranks seventh in the league. RB Ronnie Hillman fumbled early in the team's Week 17 game and was benched for the rest of the game in favor of RBs Lance Ball and Jacob Hester. Denver still managed to run for 172 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs in that contest. "If you want to say one thing that's great about this team, it's that nobody's selfish," Ball said. "That's what you need to have a championship team."
Mon, 07 Jan 2013 11:55:12 -0800 Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee) said the rehab from his knee injury is on track but could not play if the team had a game tomorrow. He is eligible to practice Tuesday, Jan. 8, and could play in the AFC Championship game if the team advances.
Sat, 05 Jan 2013 07:43:21 -0800 Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee) could be ready to practice on a limited basis next week. However, the team's timetable is still that he would be ready to play in a limited role in the AFC Championship Game. He is currently on the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return list.
Fri, 28 Dec 2012 19:27:10 -0800 Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee) is eligible to return to practice next week, though he cannot return to the active roster until the third of January, or in time for the AFC Championship Game should the team advance that far. He is currently on the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return list after tearing a medial collateral ligament Nov. 18.
Thu, 22 Nov 2012 09:11:01 -0800 Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning said he sees the injury to RB Willis McGahee (knee, leg) as a great opportunity for RB Knowshon Moreno. Moreno will split duties with RBs Ronnie Hillman and Lance Ball. "He hasn't played, but he will be a part of it. It's going to be a three-man committee," Manning said. "Hey, this is the NFL. You are kind of used to where it doesn't matter what year you are or how old you are. If you're on an NFL roster, you're expected to go in there and contribute and do your job."
Thu, 22 Nov 2012 04:27:47 -0800 Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman, Lance Ball and Knowshon Moreno will replace RB Willis McGahee's (knee, leg) carries during his absence.
Wed, 21 Nov 2012 09:29:06 -0800 Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee, leg) is expected to be placed on the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return list. He would be eligible to come off the list for the AFC Championship game if the Broncos make it that far.
Wed, 21 Nov 2012 08:28:12 -0800 Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee) will be placed on Injured Reserve, ending his season. Fantasy Tip: Following this transaction, owners can now proceed with dropping McGahee from their lineups. Ronnie Hillman and Lance Ball are expected to see more carries, as could Knowshon Moreno. The team may now strongly consider signing Steve Slaton after working him out recently. Slaton reportedly had an impressive showing.
Tue, 20 Nov 2012 18:09:10 -0800 Denver Broncos team president John Elway said Tuesday, Nov. 20, that RB Knowshon Moreno will be in the mix going forward with RB Willis McGahee (knee) sidelined. RB Ronnie Hillman and RB Lance Ball are also expected to see carries.
Tue, 20 Nov 2012 18:06:22 -0800 Free-agent RB Steve Slaton (Dolphins) had an impressive workout Tuesday, Nov. 20, for the Denver Broncos. However, the team has three running backs on the 53-man roster, and they are not likely to sign Slaton (or anyone else) unless RB Willis McGahee (knee) is forced to the season-ending Injured Reserve list.
Mon, 19 Nov 2012 14:39:27 -0800 Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman is not feeling any stress at the idea of taking over the starting running back job after Willis McGahee (knee) was lost to injury in Week 11. "If my number is called, then it's called and I'll go in and do my job," Hillman said. "There's no kind of stress factor."
Mon, 19 Nov 2012 12:37:18 -0800 Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee, leg) will not need surgery, and he thinks he can return in four to six weeks. Doctors have told him not to put any weight on his leg.
Mon, 19 Nov 2012 11:55:37 -0800 Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee, leg) has a fracture in his leg in addition to his torn medial collateral ligament.
Mon, 19 Nov 2012 11:40:35 -0800 Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee) suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in the team's Week 11 game, and is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Fantasy Tip: This diagnosis should effectively end the 31-year-old McGahee's season. Expect Ronnie Hillman to get the bulk of the carries moving forward, and he should be owned in all leagues. Lance Ball will also be in the mix and should carry more value in point-per-reception leagues.
Mon, 19 Nov 2012 05:52:53 -0800 Updating a previous item, Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee) does not believe the knee injury he suffered in Week 11 is serious, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. McGahee is scheduled to have an MRI Monday, Nov. 19. If McGahee can't play, he'd likely be replaced by RB Ronnie Hillman in the lineup. The backup would be RB Lance Ball.
Sun, 18 Nov 2012 21:51:08 -0800 Denver Broncos RBs Lance Ball and Ronnie Hillman saw plenty of touches in Week 11 against the San Diego Chargers with RB Willis McGahee (knee) leaving with an injury. Ball carried six times for 35 yards, while added three catches and 21 yards. He also lost a fumble. The rookie Hillman had 12 totes for 43 yards, and he added two receptions for 16 yards. Fantasy Tip: If McGahee is forced to miss time, it is likely Ball and Hillman will each see increased touches, making both worth a look as a 'flex' play heading into Week 12.
Sun, 18 Nov 2012 21:49:19 -0800 Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee) will have an MRI Monday, Nov. 19 to determine if he has any structural damage in his right knee.

Mon, 12 Nov 2012 20:31:09 -0800 Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos head coach John Fox said Monday, Nov. 12, that ball security would be an emphasis this week during practices. RB Willis McGahee lost his fourth fumble of the season in Week 10. While it didn't factor into the team's blowout victory, Fox knows it might be crucial in a closer game. "I know Eric Studesville, our running backs coach, will emphasize that," Fox said. "There'll be a couple emphases this week on how to recover a fumble and then how not to fumble."

"I stick with them. I told Willis after the fumble and the other fourth down when we had it, and I told Demaryius—I'm with them. We're going to need those guys all season," Manning said. "You don't see me not throwing to Demaryius or not calling Willis' number. They're out there; they're going to get the ball, and they're going to make more plays than they're going to miss, I assure you of that."
