Allison Wachs, of DetroitLions.com, reports Detroit Lions RB Avon Cobourne, allocated to the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe, is leading the league in rushing yards, as well as total offensive yards. Cobourne has 401 rushing yards on 88 carries (4.6 average), as well as 19 receptions for 188 receiving yards (9.9 average), for a total of 589 offensive yards.

The Detroit News reports Detroit Lions head coach Steve Mariucci awaits the results from an MRI on RB James Stewart's (shoulder) injured shoulder. Once the results are in, the team will have a better idea of what direction they'll be going opening day. "I don't know who the lead dog will be," Mariucci said. "It very well could be a running back by committee." Potential committee members include RBs Avon Cobourne, Shawn Bryson and Autry Denson; all of whom had their ups and downs in the team's game Thursday, Aug. 28.

James Royer, of DetroitLions.com, reports Detroit Lions undrafted rookie RB Avon Cobourne was impressive during spring minicamp and caught the eye of team president and CEO Matt Millen. "I have seen some good stuff from him," Millen said. "He has quickness and he can make you miss. He has a feel for the game. He is a combination of a couple of guys. He has a little bit of "Famous" Amos (Zereoue) in him and a little bit of Amp Lee in him. They just have a way of keeping you off balance, of reading things real quick, good vision and he has been productive. Training camp is going to be real important for him."
