Cowboys | Tony Romo gives up other sports

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 13:51:43 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo said he has given up playing basketball, soccer and golf during the offseason, in order to focus on making sure his back is healthy enough to play football.

Fantasy Tip: Romo is a QB1 who should be selected in the middle rounds of fantasy football drafts, provided he can stay healthy. It's wise for him to concentrate exclusively on football this offseason, given his prior history of back injuries.

Cowboys | Tony Romo glowing this offseason

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 07:11:32 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo said this has been his best offseason he has had in three years. Romo has practiced all three days during on-field team activities in each of the last two weeks with no limitations. "Now I need to continue," Romo said. "I'm working as hard as I can to ensure that I'm strengthening the areas that I need to be at my best and right now it's just been a good start in the offseason. I've been able to continue to build and grow."

Fantasy Tip: Romo played well out of the gates last season coming off back surgery. With a full offseason, he should be a midrange QB1 with some upside.

Cowboys | Five more years for Jason Witten?

Sun, 17 May 2015 17:24:29 -0700

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten said Sunday, May 17, that he and QB Tony Romo could play four or five more years if they continue to play like they did last season.

Fantasy Tip: Witten is no longer an elite fantasy tight end, but he still finished in the top 10 in catches and receiving yards at the position last season. He should be considered a low-end TE1 heading into 2015.

Cowboys | Tony Romo thinks OL may help career

Sun, 10 May 2015 06:56:03 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo said he believes the team's offensive line could extend his career if they play well moving forward. "When you have a good offensive line like we do the thought definitely crosses your mind to ensure you do everything possible to play longer than maybe what you had envisioned," Romo said.

Fantasy Tip: Romo is coming off one of the best seasons of his career and should have most of his receivers back for 2015. Romo should be a weekly starting option for owners and probably will be selected in the middle rounds of drafts.

Cowboys | Tony Romo would have taken pay cut

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 17:56:19 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo said Tuesday, March 31, he would have taken a pay cut in order for the team to retain RB DeMarco Murray (Eagles). "DeMarco ended up asking me, 'Why don't you take a pay cut?'" Romo said. "I was like, 'I will. I will take a pay cut to go do this.' I was like, 'They're going to restructure me and the whole thing, 'that's the same thing in some ways just for salary-cap purposes." In the end, the Cowboys never approached Romo about a a pay cut and Murray left for a five-year deal from the rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Now Romo will hand footballs off to Darren McFadden instead of Murray, a huge downgrade at the position considering his injury history. The good news is that Romo might actually do a little more passing in 2015, so his fantasy value could increase a little bit.
