Cowboys | Tony Romo anticipating his release

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 08:50:10 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is expecting to be released this offseason. He believes he can be a starter in the league for two or three more years.

Fantasy Tip: Romo has a lengthy injury history, and he's entering his age-37 season. He's someone to target as a backup if you land an elite QB in fantasy.

Cowboys | Retirement not an option for Tony Romo

Sun, 05 Feb 2017 10:06:16 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo has already received strong interest from television networks that want him to work as a color analyst, but he has no intention of retiring in order to do so.

Fantasy Tip: Romo turns 37 in April and is coming off a significant back injury, but he was still able to give all interested parties a glimpse that he still has a little something left in the Cowboys' regular-season finale. The likelihood is that Dallas ends up releasing him as potential suitors won't be all that inclined to trade for an aging quarterback who may only have one year left with a fairly substantial contract. If he leaves Dallas, he will be a high-risk fantasy QB2 almost regardless of where he lands.

Chiefs | KC interested in Tony Romo?

Sat, 04 Feb 2017 06:57:23 -0800

The Kansas City Chiefs are one team that could be interested in acquiring Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo this offseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The team is reportedly looking to upgrade the quarterback position after losing in the second round of the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

Fantasy Tip: Incumbent starting QB Alex Smith would likely be released if Romo lands in Kansas City. Although he should still be capable of posting QB1 numbers in a favorable situation, Romo would be best served as a fantasy backup in most seasonal formats due to his injury history.

Cardinals | No Tony Romo for Arizona

Fri, 03 Feb 2017 21:38:23 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is unlikely to be pursued by the Arizona Cardinals, according to head coach Bruce Arians. "I wish Tony all the best; I doubt he'll be a Cardinal," Arians said.

Fantasy Tip: Romo will have plenty of suitors this offseason, and he should still be able to produce QB1 numbers in the right situation. However, he needs to drafted as a fantasy backup because of his injury history.

Bills | Buffalo interested in Tony Romo

Thu, 02 Feb 2017 12:41:53 -0800

The Buffalo Bills have significant interest in Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, but it may not be a great fit since Romo is looking to join a contending team, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills still have to make a decision on Tyrod Taylor, so it is not known what the Bills will do at the quarterback position. Romo likely will be starting for a team in 2017 and can be a No. 1 quarterback for fantasy owners. Taylor could also find a starting job if he leaves Buffalo but probably would be more of a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Cowboys | Dallas open to offers for Tony Romo

Thu, 02 Feb 2017 12:32:38 -0800

The Dallas Cowboys will be open to trade offers for QB Tony Romo this offseason once owner/general manager Jerry Jones meets with Romo, according to sources. Romo would prefer to be traded to a contending team. The Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs are among the teams Romo may be interested in joining.

Fantasy Tip: Romo is not expected to be with Dallas next season and probably will be traded or released during the offseason. Romo should be a starting quarterback for a team in 2017 and could be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback depending on his team.

Broncos | Tony Romo could interest Denver

Sun, 29 Jan 2017 07:33:56 -0800

The Denver Broncos could be interested in Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo if they can acquire him as a free agent, according to a source in the organization's football department.

Fantasy Tip: Romo has three non-guaranteed years remaining on his current contract ($14 million in 2017, $19.5 million in 2018 and $20.5 million in 2019) but the Broncos would likely only be interested in him if he is released by the Cowboys. This would allow Denver to negotiate a cap-friendly contract with the soon-to-be 37-year-old. Romo should still be viewed as a QB1 if he lands with a contender as the unquestioned starter but his history of back injuries means that seasonal owners should have a competent backup on hand.

Cowboys | Retirement a possibility for Tony Romo?

Fri, 20 Jan 2017 09:14:44 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo has already said he wants to continue playing, but Bryan Broaddus of the team's official website believes retirement is a serious possibility for the quarterback this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Even though a healthy Romo would still better than roughly half of the starting quarterbacks in the league, it would be hard to blame him if he chose to leave the game given his age (turns 37 in April) history of back injuries. Ultimately, he'll probably try to squeeze out one more year, although it is highly unlikely he will do so in Dallas.

Cowboys | Trading Tony Romo is 'No. 1 priority'

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 21:36:34 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is "not going to be on (the team) in 2017," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who states that trading the veteran quarterback is their "No. 1 priority this offseason."

Fantasy Tip: It's looking like a certainty that Romo will not be with the only team he has ever known next season. The only question is where he ends up, and with a good number of teams seeking to rectify their starting quarterback situation this offseason, the 12-year veteran figures to land in a spot where he'll get another chance again right out of the gate. This should be one of the more interesting storylines of the upcoming offseason.
