Andrew Mason, of DenverBroncos.com, reports former NFL TE Shannon Sharpe will participate in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas beginning Saturday, July 9. Former Denver Broncos teammates WR Rod Smith and LB Keith Burns will be traveling to Las Vegas to cheer Sharpe on. "He didn't beat me like he said in Sports Illustrated," Smith said. "I'm not going to give (the World Series) 10 grand. I don't know where (Sharpe) got the money fromówell, he's making a lot of money talking now."

Former NFL TE Shannon Sharpe appeared in court on Friday, Aug. 6, on misdemeanor simple battery charges for removing the mother of one of his children from his home, according to the Associated Press. Erika Evans, of Austell, Ga., went to Sharpe's Atlanta residence on Thursday, July 29 to pick up their son, but at one point during the visit, Sharpe lifted Evans and physically removed her from his house against her will, according to the police affidavit for his arrest. Police who arrived at the scene interviewed both people, but made no arrests. Sharpe's lawyer, Craig Gillen, said his client told Evans to leave his house at least twice before physically removing her. Evans filed charges on Tuesday, July 13, which is when Sharpe turned himself in and posted a $1,000 U.S. bond. His case was rescheduled to Wednesday, Aug. 11 in Fulton County Magistrate Court.
