Jim Thomas, reports for the Sporting News, the St. Louis Rams are expecting a three-way battle to determine who will be their starting left guard. OG Rex Tucker, OG Blaine Saipaia and OG Scott Tercero should stage a good battle to win the job. All three bring the necessary skills for the job. The knock on Tucker has been his ability to stay healthy. Saipaia has experience starting at right tackle, but he has not played guard. Tercero started four games at left guard last season, but he is considered a little undersized.

Tercero, who was the team's sixth-round selection this year, will receive base salaries of $225,000 (2003); $305,000 (2004); $380,000 (2005). Tercero will count $248,667 against the 2003 salary cap.
