Curt Sylvester, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Lions RB Olandis Gary worked individually Monday, Sept. 1 with the assistant coaches and quarterbacks on the basics - taking handoffs, for instance. With another four days of practice, however, Gary said he can see himself carrying the ball Sunday, Sept. 7 in the Lions' season opener against the Arizona Cardinals. "I don't think it would be tough," he said. "I know the offense pretty good. I ran it in Denver for four years, so that gives me an advantage there. It's just a couple of wrinkles, idiosyncrasies of the offense I need to hone in on. Other than that, I pretty much know the basics."

The Denver Post reports Denver Broncos RB Olandis Gary (ankle) said he thinks the ankle injury he suffered over the weekend was caused by him receiving a hit to the plate he has in the leg from his broken leg injury a year ago. When the plate was hit, it disrupted some of the nerves and muscles around it. The Rocky Mountain News reports Gary was still limping on Monday. He was still sore, but was receiving treatment and said he’d return to the lineup this weekend.
