Abdullah underwent surgery Friday, Aug. 6, and he could miss the entire season but will have further evaluation, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals LB Khalid Abdullah has made noticeable improvements this offseason partly due to a change in his diet. Abdullah has increased his calorie intake and put on six pounds of lean muscle mass, according to Begals strength and conditioning coach Chip Morton. Abdullah's physical improvements have also caught the eye of Bengals defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. "He's quicker and he's stronger," said Frazier.

Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals rookie LB Khalid Abdullah is currently third on the depth chart at weak-side linebacker but is on the field for special teams. "I'm glad they expect something from me," said Abdullah. "They're thinking about me. It means that they like me." He said he plans on making the most of his special-teams opportunities because he has "a lot to learn to be a linebacker on this level."

Updating previous reports, the Cincinnati Post reports the contract signed by Cincinnati Bengals LB Khalid Abdullah calls for him to make minimum base salaries of $225,000 (2003), $305,000 (2004) and $380,000 (2005). Abdullah's signing bonus was $130,000, and he counts $268,333 against the salary cap this season.

Bengals.com reports the Cincinnati Bengals have signed LB Khalid Abdullah (Mars Hill College) to a three-year contract. Abdullah was the team's fifth-round draft choice in this year's draft. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
