Updating previous reports, the New York Daily News reports four New York Jets players testified Monday before a Nassau County grand jury in the case of Jets OT Jumbo Elliott. While the district attorney’s office hasn’t revealed the names of the players, sources have confirmed that they are: Jason Fabini, Dennis O’Sullivan, Todd Husak, and former Jets player Matt Knutson, who is now with the New England Patriots. Three other players – Jonathan Goodwin, Chris Smith, and Elliott himself – will also be required to testify. The grand jury is expected to decide next week if charges will be filed.

Associated Press reports the Berlin Thunder defended their World Bowl title on Saturday with a 26-20 win over the Rhein Fire. Berlin QB Todd Husak threw two TD passes to WR Dane Looker during the win. Looker, who was allocated to NFL Europe by the St. Louis Rams, was the game MVP after catching 11 passes for 111 yards and two scores. Berlin took a 20-0 lead in the first half in front of a record 53,109 onlookers. The Fire became the first team in NFL Europe that failed to win a championship game in three tries.

Updating an earlier story, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports for the Sporting News the contract signed by QB Todd Husak with the Denver Broncos was a one-year, $375,000 deal. He is expected to compete with QBs Steve Beuerlein and Jarious Jackson for the backup job behind starter Brian Griese. QB Gus Frerotte, an unrestricted free agent, is not expected to re-sign with Denver.

The battle for the No. 3 spot is between rookie Sage Rosenfels and Todd Husak. Husak appears to be losing the battle. Coach Marty Schottenheimer said the bigger need is evaluating QBs Jeff George and Tony Banks. George will start the game and play 12 to 15 snaps. As previously reported, QB Todd Husak made the injury list with a strained oblique muscle on his left side. TE Stephen Alexander (hamstring) appears to be getting closer to returning to practice. However, coach Marty Schottenheimer said "I didn't want to take this chance from him." Husak was making his first start due to QB Jeff George's injury. Husak will have to play well Friday when Washington plays Atlanta at FedEx Field if he hopes to remain behind George on the depth chart.

Mark Maske reports for the Washington Post the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Washington Redskins tonight, 20-0. Redskins QB Todd Husak completed 3 of 10 passes for 27 yards and an interception. The Redskins had two first downs and 32 yards of total offense in the first half. For the Chiefs, QB Trent Green hit WR Derrick Mayes with a 29-yard TD pass. Dante Hall returned a punt 92-yards for the Chiefs other TD. PK Todd Peterson kicked a 23-yard FG to open the scoring for the Chiefs. PK Lawrence Tynes's 22-yard FG completed the scoring for Kansas City.
