"He made a comment that I chased the money, and not the championship," Asante said of Welker. "... So here's my advice to you, Welker - You better chase the money, brother."

Atlanta Falcons DT Corey Peters and CB Asante Samuel will receive bigger 2013 base salaries because of incentives in their contracts. Peters was scheduled to make $630,000 next season but will now make $1.323 million while Samuel will go from $3 million to $3.2 million.

Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said the team is being cautious with CB Asante Samuel (shoulder) as they approach Week 14. "Most certainly," Smith said. "He was only able to play three plays, so we are going to definitely be very cautious and make sure he's ready to go. He wants to be out there playing, I know that, but we want to make sure he gets cleared by the doctors before we get him out there."
