Baker has a statistical lead over Rouen in terms of gross average (49.4 yards to 42.4) and net yards (42.1 to 37.7). Both players have landed two punts inside the 20, and Baker has one touchback. All head coach John Fox would say on the issue Sunday, Aug. 28, was, "We're still evaluating it."

The three candidates who are vying to replace P Todd Sauerbrun are: Ps Tom Rouen, Jason Baker and Steve Cheek. "We think we have three guys who have some ability," Crossman said. "We have three different kinds of guys. We have a veteran (in Rouen) who has done it a long time in this league and two young guys - one who is exclusively a punter (Cheek) and one in Jason Baker who can also kick off. Between the three of them, we think we have a good mix. Now the most important thing is who can consistently deliver the ball down the field."
