Jeff Legwold, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports the Denver Broncos have started work on a renegotiated deal for OT Matt Lepsis, according to a source. Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan said OC Tom Nalen (just re-signed) and Lepsis were among his top offseason priorities. Lepsis, with a scheduled salary cap figure of $6.95 million for the 2006 season, is one of the team's first targets for restructuring.

He was forced to take a knee, before rising slowly and walking to the sideline under his own power after several minutes, but returned shortly thereafter.

"I think we'll improve in that area from last year," Shanahan said. "I know we'll improve drastically in the running game because he's got great quickness. Denver Broncos OT Matt Lepsis will have a hearing on Monday, Feb. 23 on charges of drunken driving and speeding following a traffic stop in December 2003, according to the Associated Press. Lepsis was stopped by a Douglas County sheriff's deputy on Dec. 14 after allegedly driving 67 mph in a 55 mph, and tests showed his blood-alcohol content being slightly over the legal limit of .10 percent.
