Cowboys | Johnson and Gurode will compete at center again

Sat, 03 Jun 2006 17:52:15 -0700

Nick Eatman, of DallasCowboys.com, reports Dallas Cowboys C Al Johnson and C Andre Gurode will compete during training camp for the starting center job. Johnson won the job for the 2005 season and started all 16 games with Gurode serving as his backup. The team will try to make it a fair competition, but offensive line coach Tony Sparano admits the team might be better with Johnson starting at center. Sparano said, "Andre has played guard before and Al has not played that position. So the best situation, at the end of the day, would be if Al (starts at center) and we have Andre at the game (as a backup) like we did last year. But whether or not Andre ends up being the best player out of this remains to be seen."
