Carolina Panthers OG Edmund Kugbila will get a chance to earn the starting right guard spot with veteran C Geoff Hangartner. He could also be used as a backup behind OT Jordan Gross and OT Byron Bell. The current backups are considered unreliable, particularly OT Bruce Campbell.

Panthers | Jordan Gross receives extension

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers OT Jordan Gross received a three-year contract extension in addition to restructuring his contract. The deal includes a $4.5 million signing bonus as part of the extension. Gross will make a base salary of $1 million in the final three years of his contract and will count $1.9 million against the salary cap in those years.

Carolina Panthers OT Jordan Gross has agreed to restructure his contract, which creates some salary cap space for the team. His 2013 base salary has gone from $8.7 million to $1 million while his 2014 base salary goes from $6.7 million to $1 million.
