Tue, 07 May 2013 05:30:57 -0700 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten said he agreed the team needed to draft a tight end if they were going to commit to using more two-tight end sets in the passing game. He said he has no problems helping second-round pick TE Gavin Escobar adjust. "There's no ego there for me," Witten said. "It's all about winning. That's part of being a leader and a captain - is to help other guys play at a high level. There's no hard feelings from that standpoint."
Sat, 04 May 2013 11:00:19 -0700 The Dallas Cowboys plan on using more two-tight end sets this season with TEs Jason Witten and Gavin Escobar as the two tight ends.
Sat, 04 May 2013 10:21:58 -0700 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten said he believes QB Tony Romo's work ethic has been great even though owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Romo will be spending more time at the team's facility and being more involved in the offense. "I've always felt like Tony was very involved in the process of the plays and our scheme, how we attacked," Witten said. "I think in any organization where you have an elite quarterback like that, you want him to feel comfortable. I think that's something we've always tried to do, and it sounds like we're going to continue to do that."
Thu, 28 Feb 2013 10:04:41 -0800 The Dallas Cowboys have restructured the contract of TE Jason Witten, according to a source. The team converted $4.56 million of Witten's $5.5 million 2013 base salary into a signing bonus to save roughly $3.65 million against the cap.
Wed, 27 Feb 2013 13:20:54 -0800 Dallas Cowboys OT Doug Free, CB Brandon Carr, DE Jason Hatcher, OG Nate Livings, QB Kyle Orton, CB Orlando Scandrick, DE DeMarcus Ware and TE Jason Witten may be candidates to restructure their contracts in order for the team to create some salary cap space.

Sun, 23 Dec 2012 22:02:41 -0800 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten hauled in six catches for 60 yards in the Week 16 game against the New Orleans Saints, giving him 103 receptions for the season. That's an NFL record for catches by a tight end, breaking the mark set by TE Tony Gonzalez, then with the Kansas City Chiefs, back in 2004.
Tue, 18 Dec 2012 19:14:42 -0800 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten has 97 receptions through Week 14, and he needs just six more receptions over the next two games to set the single-season NFL record for catches by a tight end. Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez holds the record of 102, set in 2004 when he was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Sun, 16 Dec 2012 21:24:30 -0800 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten had five catches for 43 yards and a touchdown in the Week 15 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fantasy Tip: The yardage total was Witten's worst since Week 3, but it was his first visit to the end zone since Week 4, so fantasy owners will take it. He and the Cowboys passing offense face a very favorable matchup in Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints.
Mon, 10 Dec 2012 08:40:36 -0800 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten will set the record for most receptions in a season by a tight end in NFL history with 11 catches in the final three games. Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez had 102 catches for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2004.
Mon, 03 Dec 2012 08:08:50 -0800 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten had a season-high 18 yards per catch in Week 13, and only one of his six catches went for less than 10 yards. The return of RB DeMarco Murray (foot) to the lineup enabled for more big plays in the passing game. "I think being able to run the ball and not being one dimensional, they're not bailing out of there and that's not something we got to really in the last four or five ballgames," Witten said. "That was big. Obviously I feel good about that."
Sun, 02 Dec 2012 22:20:01 -0800 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten posted a game-high 108 yards on six receptions in the Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Fantasy Tip: Witten has been tremendous as far as receptions and yardage, as he has at least six grabs and 51 yards in each of his past six games. However, he has managed just one touchdown this season, and none over his past eight games. Still, he is a must-start fantasy option in all leagues.
Thu, 22 Nov 2012 19:27:34 -0800 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten had nine receptions for 74 yards in the Week 12 game against the Washington Redskins Thursday, Nov. 22. He would be considered the top fantasy TE in the game if he had more than one touchdown on the season.
Sun, 04 Nov 2012 21:57:40 -0800 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten broke the franchise record for most career catches, passing WR Michael Irvin. He finished with seven receptions for 51 yards in the Week 9 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Tue, 30 Oct 2012 11:23:26 -0700 Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones does not think the Cowboys are getting stale, or boring to watch. "Do you think Romo's exciting to watch? Of course he is," Jones said. "Is Jason Witten worth watching and coming to see? Maybe in the top five of all the players we've had, you can go to the person as well as the player. Certainly Miles Austin has proven that he can make exciting plays. He's been dealing with hamstring (injuries), but he can. Apart from that, we probably have – and I'm going to pull this one out of my head here – but we probably had at least 50 percent of our players that weren't on our roster two years ago on the field the other day. So stale would not be the word for it."
Mon, 29 Oct 2012 07:30:15 -0700 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten's 18 receptions and 22 targets in Week 8 were the most by a tight end in a game over the last five seasons. Sat, 06 Oct 2012 05:41:47 -0700 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten said he never lost confidence in his abilities despite a slow start to the season that included more than his fair share of drops. Witten caught 13 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown in Week 4. "I always felt confident in my game. I feel better than I've ever felt. I had some opportunities to make some catches that I'm accustomed and expected to make, and I didn't do it. But you stay the course," Witten said. "You've done it so many times. I knew there was going to be some opportunities to make some plays. I was glad to get back on track so to speak."
Mon, 01 Oct 2012 21:23:54 -0700 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten hauled in 13 balls for 112 yards and a touchdown in the Week 4 game Monday, Oct. 1, against the Chicago Bears. Witten was targeted a team-high 14 times. It was his 15th career 100-yard game. Witten entered the game as the NFL leader in drops, but he had none Monday. Mon, 24 Sep 2012 14:50:39 -0700 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten said he is healthy and there are no injuries to blame for his dropped passes this season. He said he is in the right spot to make the catches but is not able to make the play for some reason. He said the lacerated spleen he suffered in the preseason has not been a factor during play. He has dropped six passes in the last two games.
Mon, 24 Sep 2012 05:52:37 -0700 Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said following Week 3 he is not concerned with the number of dropped passes TE Jason Witten has so far this season. Witten was targeted six times in the game but dropped multiple passes and finished with two catches for eight yards. "I think Witten's probably got the fewest drops of about anybody we've ever had around here, so I'm not (concerned)," Jones said. "We in no way are going to do anything rather than give Witten all the chances we can give him."

Witten had three drops in Week 2. "I feel 100 percent," Witten said. "I just dropped the ball. No excuses there. The injury had nothing to do with that. Rest assured, I'll get it fixed."

"It sounds like he came out of the game OK," head coach Jason Garrett said. "He seemed good after the game." Witten played 53 of the team's 68 offensive snaps in Week 1. Garrett said he didn't want to overuse Witten, who had two catches for 10 yards. Fantasy Tip: Witten's health should continue to be monitored; however, it appears his role will expand in the coming weeks. If Kevin Ogletree can build on his Week 1 performance, it may also open up the field more for Witten to receive more targets.
Wed, 05 Sep 2012 16:05:54 -0700 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten (spleen) will be active for the Week 1 game against the New York Giants Wednesday, Sept. 5. Fantasy Tip: Expect Witten to be limited in this one. As a result, he's an extremely risky TE1 option this week. If you have other options, you're better off going that route.

Tue, 04 Sep 2012 10:20:30 -0700 Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten (spleen) was limited in practice Tuesday, Sept. 4, and is doubtful for Week 1. Fantasy Tip: Witten was already a risky TE1 option entering the beginning of the season, and this just confirms it. Even if he does play, he'll likely be limited and is too much of a gamble to start in Week 1. John Phillips will likely start at tight end instead, but he isn't worth fantasy consideration.
Mon, 03 Sep 2012 16:31:53 -0700 Dallas Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins (shoulder), DT Jay Ratliff (ankle) and TE Jason Witten (spleen) will each make the trip to New Jersey for the Week 1 game against the New York Giants Wednesday, Sept. 5.
