Cowboys | Dez Bryant, Jason Witten sitting Wednesday

Wed, 26 Jul 2017 12:43:35 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant and TE Jason Witten will not participate in practice Wednesday, July 26. Head coach Jason Garrett said he wants the veteran players to have a regular schedule during training camp that will not wear them out.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant and Witten probably will receive days off during the regular season as well because the team wants them to stay healthy. Both players will have big roles in the Cowboys passing game in 2017. Bryant should be considered a No. 1 receiver in all fantasy leagues, while Witten probably should be a low-end No. 1 or No. 2 tight end.

Cowboys | Jason Witten signs extension

Tue, 28 Mar 2017 08:17:58 -0700

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten signed a four-year extension through 2021 Tuesday, March 28.

Fantasy Tip: Witten had a 69-673-3 season last year and turns 35 in May. He's still a solid PPR receiver, but his yardage and scoring numbers leave a bit to be desired. He's a midrange TE1 with little upside.

Cowboys | No extension talks for Jason Witten

Tue, 28 Feb 2017 16:59:22 -0800

The Dallas Cowboys are in no rush to talk to TE Jason Witten about a contract extension as he enters the final season of his five-year, $37 million deal, according to team executive vice president Stephen Jones.

Fantasy Tip: Witten said earlier this month he wasn't anticipating an extension and it shouldn't come as a surprise since he turns 35 in May. While he hasn't stretched the seam for years and incapable of creating big plays at this point of his career, Witten gives the Cowboys a reliable option who hasn't missed a game since his rookie season in 2003. In fantasy, he's a high-end TE2 with slightly more appeal in PPR leagues.

Cowboys | Jason Witten not expecting extension

Fri, 03 Feb 2017 13:26:02 -0800

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten said he does not expect to receive a contract extension this offseason even though he is entering the final year of his contract. Witten said he is taking things year-to-year and is not sure how much longer he will play.

Fantasy Tip: Witten finished the 2016 season with 673 yards and three touchdowns. His receiving yards was his lowest total since his rookie season. Witten will continue to be a part of the passing game next season but probably should only be considered a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Cowboys | Jason Witten plans to return

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 06:51:24 -0800

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten plans to return in 2017 for his 15th season.

Fantasy Tip: Witten will be 35 in May and had a decent 69-673-3 campaign in 2016. He'll be a midrange PPR tight end with minimal upside.

Cowboys | Career first for Jason Witten

Sun, 15 Jan 2017 17:59:31 -0800

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten had six catches for 59 yards and his first postseason touchdown in a 34-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers Sunday, Jan. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Witten can still be counted on for a handful of catches per game, but he does his damage on underneath coverage and offers little upside. Draft him as a TE2 in 2017.

Cowboys | No playoff TDs for Jason Witten

Sun, 15 Jan 2017 09:11:37 -0800

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten has not caught a touchdown in any of his seven career playoffs games.

Fantasy Tip: Witten has posted solid receiving numbers in his previous playoff games and should see a solid amount of targets against the Green Bay Packers. He should be considered a No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues even if he does not score a touchdown.

Cowboys | Jason Garrett plans to play starters

Tue, 27 Dec 2016 16:31:10 -0800

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said the "preliminary plan" for the team's Week 17 game against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, Jan. 1, is to play the starters who are healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Garrett has been maintaining this all along, so there should be no doubts that the starters will at least get some work in during the season finale. The question is exactly how much playing time the Dallas starters will receive, especially after the likes of Dak Prescott, Dez Bryant and Ezekiel Elliott were done after the third quarter Monday night, but that could be attributed to the contest being a blowout. Either way, all the regulars on offense will be risky plays.
