He had just five catches for 47 yards. "They have a good scheme," Witten said. "They put Woodson on me and I couldn't get open. They did a good job in coverage. I can't speak for everybody else, but for myself, I've got to play better than that."

Witten's longest reception is 22 yards. Witten also has been targeted 13 times on third down and has converted 13 first downs. "I feel like we're not getting those plays down the field as much for whatever reason," Witten said. "I don't think there's one thing that you can look at and say that's what's triggering it, but a lot of it is underneath (passes)."

However, that could cause a decline in Witten's numbers in 2009 while Bennett's numbers would likely double.

Tue, 07 Apr 2009 06:53:01 -0700 Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports it may be time for the Dallas Cowboys to look at re-doing TE Jason Witten's contract after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed TE Kellen Winslow to a six-year, $36 million contract with $20 million guaranteed. Witten signed a six-year deal worth $29 million with the Cowboys in 2006 that included a $12 million signing bonus. Witten will earn a $2.5 million base salary this season followed by bases of $2.641 million, $3.391 million and $3.641 million. He is also due roster bonuses of $500,000 in 2010 and 2011 and $1 million in 2012.
