Fran Blinebury, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans TE Bennie Joppru made it through a training camp practice Friday, July 28, the first time he's participated in a training camp drill healthy. Joppru, who was taken in the second round of the 2003 draft, was placed on Injured Reserve in 2003 and 2005 before the season started. In 2004, he was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list after injuring his groin in a minicamp workout. Joppru said, "Go crazy, feel sorry for yourself. I think I did both the first two years. Last year I decided I wasn't going to let this game affect my life. Just made a decision to work as hard as I can. Whether or not this is for me, I'll find out. But I worked as hard as I could, and I'll never second-guess myself. I'm either strong mentally or extremely hardheaded. I'm just stubborn like that. There's nothing more that I want than to be out here."

Vic Carucci, of NFL.com, reports Houston Texans TE Bennie Joppru has noticed a change in the attitude the new coaching regime has brought to the team, "Last year at this time, there were probably about 10 guys down in Houston (at the team's facility). On July 6, we had an optional run and 27 or 30 guys showed up for the run." Joppru will be looking to make an impact with the increased role of the tight ends in the offense and says fans will be very happy with the team's performance this season.

"I've been very impressed, and it doesn't surprise me because if I had to tell you the one player who is the first one here in the morning and the last one to leave in the evening, it's that kid," Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said. "He's very dedicated to what he does. When that stuff happens to you in your career you kind of find out how important football is to you, and I think that's what's happened to him. Hopefully, he'll stay in one piece and make the adjustments."

Joppru missed his first two season with a recurring groin injury and missed last year after he tore his ACL in OTAs. Currently , Joppru is 27 pounds lighter than he was his rookie year and now weighs around 235 pounds.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports for the third consecutive year, Houston Texans TE Bennie Joppru (knee) has suffered a season-ending injury as an MRI confirmed that the third-year pro suffered a torn ACL in his right knee and will miss the entire 2005 season. Joppru, who suffered the injury during a non-contact drill during practice Monday, May 16, also suffered a slight tear in his MCL. Since being selected in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft, Joppru has yet to play in a regular season game due to injuries.
