Ed Bouchette, of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports if for no other reason than process of elimination, he believes WR Limas Sweed will be the Pittsburgh Steelers No. 3 receiver this year. Bouchette said he does not believe WR Shaun McDonald is physical enough and WR Mike Wallace may not have the experience despite having speed. He notes WR Dallas Baker is a wildcard in the competition.

Scott Brown, of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Shaun McDonald is in the mix for a spot on the rotation at wide receiver behind WR Hines Ward and WR Santonio Holmes. Head coach Mike Tomlin said the spots behind Ward and Holmes will be wide open when the team starts training camp. "They didn't tell me what my role is going to be," said McDonald. "We're all competing."

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz discussed where rookie WR Calvin Johnson will fit into the team's offense. The Lions already have WRs Roy E. Williams, Shaun McDonald and Mike Furrey under contract for the 2007 season. "We're going to put him over with Mike Furrey at Z, opposite of Roy. We've got Mac and Roy at X and then Mike and Calvin over at Z. He will be the Z in our four wide receiver package with Mike inside and Mac inside and Roy on the outside. That's a pretty good crew of four. Hopefully it will equal the best I've ever had, or maybe it will be a bit better, who knows."
