Updating a previous report, the New England Patriots agreed to terms with free-agent WR Brandon Lloyd (Rams) Saturday, March 17. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Fantasy Tip: This one was speculated for quite some time, as Lloyd reunites with Josh McDaniels, the offensive coordinator for the Patriots. Lloyd gives the team the deep threat they've been seeking, but they may not be done upgrading their receivers.

Lloyd resurrected his career under McDaniels in Denver, catching a career-best 77 passes for 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns. He'll try to take the top off defenses in New England, and his numbers will likely be inconsistent on a weekly basis due to the number of weapons Tom Brady has to work with. However, when Lloyd hits he could go the distance. His value takes a hit in PPR leagues; consider him a solid No. 3 receiver in standard scoring.

The San Francisco 49ers are still interested in signing another wide receiver. They have worked out free-agent WRs Mario Manningham (Giants), Brandon Lloyd (Rams) and Chaz Schilens (Raiders) so far. Should the team pursue restricted free-agent WR Mike Wallace (Steelers), they would have plenty of room under the salary cap to fit in an offer sheet to him. The 49ers are about $18 million under the salary cap at this point.

St. Louis Rams impending free-agent WR Brandon Lloyd said he would be a good fit to sign with the New England Patriots because of his relationship with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. "I think I just fit the mold for what Josh is trying to accomplish in his offense," Lloyd said. "That's why I was so successful in Denver, and in turn, in St. Louis. I think that's the connection there, besides the fact I have a ton of respect for him and his family, and the way he coaches, and the way he identifies with me and players ... I think he just gets a good response out of players and definitely out of me."
