Texans | Andre Johnson looking good

Wed, 20 Aug 2014 19:32:17 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will be a top-tier fantasy receiver despite the fact he has either Ryan Fitzpatrick or Case Keenum throwing him passes, not exactly a who's who of Pro Bowl quarterbacks.

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster said WR Andre Johnson, who reportedly has asked for a trade this offseason, is an embodiment of the city of Houston, and he has more star power than the city's younger sports standouts. "He is Houston," Foster said. "I remember when I had my little run where I had like two back-to-back great seasons. I felt like this city loves me, they love me here. Everywhere I go, this is still Dre's city. I don't care if James Harden is walking around, Dwight Howard, whatever. This is Andre Johnson's city. He is Houston. That's what it means more than anything. He's been a staple here for so long."

Texans | Opinion: Andre Johnson won't be traded

Fri, 11 Jul 2014 06:52:18 -0700

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson "is not going to be traded," in the opinion to John McClain. Houston wants to avoid giving Johnson the $1 million workout bonus that he passed up by not participating in offseason activities or guarantee his 2015 salary. They don't want to create a precedent that can be manipulated by DE J.J. Watt's agent in the future. McClain said that "Any 33-year-old ... anybody doesn't walk away from" the $10 million that Houston owes Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: The financial clarity in this situation makes it likelier that Johnson will report, but you can't guarantee anything until there's a concrete resolution. Johnson remains at least a serviceable WR2 no matter where he plays this year.

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson is wanted via trade by at least four teams, according to a source. The names of the four teams were undisclosed.

Thu, 10 Jul 2014 10:18:47 -0700

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson is now working out "not thinking of the Texans," according to a source. Four teams are expressing interest in trading for Johnson before the season.

Thu, 10 Jul 2014 09:16:15 -0700

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson would cost the team $11.96 million in dead money if he's traded. He has three years and $34.5 million left on his deal.

Fantasy Tip: Ouch. Johnson's uncertain future keeps the possibility of a swap open, but Houston is less than enthused at the financial situation. Stay tuned.

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson said he is still unsure if he will be with the team in Week 1.

Texans | Andre Johnson wants out

Sat, 21 Jun 2014 14:15:26 -0700

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson wants out of Houston, according to sources close to former New England Patriots LB Ted Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: While there have been indications this was the case, this is the most concrete evidence that Johnson wants to be traded. His fantasy stock would improve should he move to a more potent team. On the downside, the chance of a holdout is there, which could hurt his value.

Texans | Andre Johnson not present

Tue, 17 Jun 2014 11:19:00 -0700

As expected, Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson is not at the team's mandatory minicamp Tuesday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will miss valuable repetitions with starter Ryan Fitzpatrick. However, he still has time to decide if he wants to continue on with Houston, and he could get back in the flow next month during training camp if he comes back. The uncertainty around Johnson's status is unsettling.

Texans | Andre Johnson won't be at minicamp

Mon, 16 Jun 2014 09:27:20 -0700

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson will not show his face at the team's mandatory minicamp this week, according to his uncle Andre Melton. Johnson has been thinking this offseason and isn't sure he wants to continue his career with the team as they rebuild. Johnson can be fined each day he's absent, and if he misses all three days this week, he can lose a total of $69,455. He would also lose a $1 million offseason workout bonus. Johnson continues to work out on his own and remains in peak physical shape.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson becomes more of a risk the closer we get to training camp as he continues to be absent from team workouts. However, if he returns, he'll continue to be the go-to receiver in Houston's aerial game.

Texans | Andre Johnson's presence in question for minicamp

Fri, 13 Jun 2014 11:35:18 -0700

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson's status for next week's three-day minicamp is up in the air, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. Johnson missed all 10 of the team's organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has hinted that he wants to be traded and has been mentioned in trade rumors involving several teams. It seems unlikely that the team will trade their star receiver, however. If he remains with Houston, he still has WR1 potential, more so in PPR leagues. When Johnson plays a full 16-game season, he's finished with WR1 numbers since 2008.

Browns | Josh Gordon not in long-term plans?

Thu, 22 May 2014 09:26:44 -0700

Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer said he doesn't think a superstar receiver is crucial to a team's success, which might foreshadow that the team doesn't have WR Josh Gordon in their long-term plans. Gordon is facing a year-long suspension for failing a marijuana test. Farmer also said that he'd be willing to trade for a receiver. Farmer said he hasn't reached out to the Houston Texans regarding WR Andre Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: The statement from Farmer doesn't bode well for Gordon, who we expect to be suspended for at least the majority of the 2014 season. He's a big risk as a fantasy football selection until we have a better picture of the scope of his suspension.

Texans | Talks with Andre Johnson are positive

Fri, 16 May 2014 14:54:33 -0700

Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said he has tons of respect for WR Andre Johnson, and the talks the two have had recently have been very positive. Johnson hasn't attended the team's voluntary offseason workouts and didn't show up for the voluntary minicamp last week, either. He doesn't plan on attending the team's organized team activities or the mandatory minicamp next month as he wonders if Houston is the place for him now.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is a very realistic trade candidate this offseason. As a result, he becomes somewhat more of a risky draft selection in fantasy leagues. If Johnson leaves, DeAndre Hopkins' value will shoot up as the No. 1 receiver.

Tue, 13 May 2014 12:35:24 -0700

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson has been wondering if the Texans are the place for him moving forward. Johnson has no plans to attend organized team activities or minicamp at this point.
