Tue, 26 Nov 2013 23:12:56 -0800
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin's two touchdown catches Monday, Nov. 25, gave him eight all-time on "Monday Night Football," which is the most of any active player. The 49ers have one more Monday night game, Dec. 23, when they host the Atlanta Falcons in Candlestick Park's regular-season finale.
Tue, 22 Oct 2013 09:49:14 -0700
The San Francisco 49ers were successful on many zone-read runs in their victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 7. QB Colin Kaepernick had a 20-yard rushing touchdown and finished with 68 yards on 11 runs. His running also opened up throwing lanes on the perimeter for the receivers. WR Anquan Boldin had five catches for 74 yards, and he thought he pistol scheme allowed for one-on-one matchups on the outside. "It makes defenses declare," Boldin said of the quarterback-driven runs. "Are you going to be bringing an eighth guy down in the box to stop the run or are you going to stay with seven guys? It definitely clears things up for us. It allows us to throw the ball outside as well."
Fantasy Tip: The Niners offense is clicking on all cylinders right now, and it coincides with the success that Frank Gore is having on the ground with a substantial workload. Look for San Fran to continue using this recipe, and the success should continue this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fri, 04 Oct 2013 06:29:15 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin has 24 catches for 372 yards and two touchdowns this season. The other five wideouts have combined for 13 catches for 112 yards.
Fantasy Tip: At the moment, Boldin is clearly the only receiver worth owning in your fantasy league. Jonathan Baldwin is a flier in cavernous leagues, but until he shows a glimmer of hope, there are probably better options out there. The Niners have success when they are consistently running the ball, too, so don't expect much to change.
Sun, 15 Sep 2013 21:51:08 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin was nearly held off the stat sheet in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks, posting just one reception for seven yards.
Fantasy Tip: It was a far cry from his opening performance in Week 1, when he had 13 grabs for 208 yards and a score. Boldin isn't nearly as good as his first game, and he isn't nearly as poor as his second. He remains a solid WR3/4 or flex fantasy play.
Mon, 09 Sep 2013 10:28:41 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin totaled 208 receiving yards and a touchdown on 13 catches in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers. Boldin's highest yards output in three years with the Baltimore Ravens was 145 yards. QB Colin Kaepernick's 412 passing yards were the most by an opening day quarterback in team history.
Fantasy Tip: Boldin looks like he could be a point-per-reception gold mine this year if Kaepernick looks to him like he did Michael Crabtree a year ago. Keep in mind, though, that Green Bay's secondary is rather weak against the pass. Don't expect this kind of output next week from either Boldin or Kap against the Seattle Seahawks' stout D in Week 2.
Sun, 08 Sep 2013 06:34:20 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin praised WRs Kyle Williams, Quinton Patton and Marlon Moore, saying they are talented and want to make their mark on the league. "They're talented," Boldin said.
"You'll see for yourself come Sunday and each game that we play. Those guys are definitely going to make plays. They're ready to make their mark on this league. I'm not worried about them at all."
Wed, 04 Sep 2013 16:51:53 -0700
The San Francisco 49ers list WR Kyle Williams as a starting wide receiver opposite WR Anquan Boldin on their initial depth chart heading into the regular season opener against the Green Bay Packers.
Fantasy Tip: Williams should still only be considered as a WR4 or flex option in most standard fantasy leagues, and perhaps as a WR3/4 or flex play in formats which reward individual return yardage.
Fri, 16 Aug 2013 14:26:26 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WRs Anquan Boldin and Kyle Williams appear to be performing better than any of the other wide receivers on the roster.
Sun, 04 Aug 2013 23:27:46 -0700
The San Francisco 49ers had three injured wide receivers back on the practice field Sunday, Aug. 4. WR's A.J. Jenkins (hamstring), Kassim Osgood (leg) and Kyle Williams (hamstring) all returned to the field, and all three are candidates to start opposite WR Anquan Boldin.
Fri, 26 Jul 2013 13:22:42 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Mario Manningham (knee) is roughly a month away from returning to action on the field, and the competition behind WR Anquan Boldin will be furious. WRs Kyle Williams, Ricardo Lockette, A.J. Jenkins, Quinton Patton and Marlon Moore will be looking to step up in the absence of WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles').
Fantasy Tip: Other than Manningham, who is a big question mark, the Niners have a cast of unproven wideouts to help out Boldin in the receiving game. Williams, Jenkins and Patton figure to have the greatest chance of locking down the No. 2 spot, and all three will be end-game gambles in deep leagues in drafts. The absense of a proven receive might benefit Vernon Davis the most.
Sun, 21 Jul 2013 17:13:11 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Quinton Patton has as good a shot as any of his competition, which is believed to include WRs A.J. Jenkins and Ricardo Lockette, for the No. 2 wide receiver job behind WR Anquan Boldin. Patton has good athletic ability, size and speed, as well as energy and eagerness.
Fantasy Tip: The rookie is worth a look as a late-round flier in early fantasy drafts, and he could be a very nice sleeper if he has a strong training camp and preseason. Patton will be working to beat out former first-rounder A.J. Jenkins and Ricardo Lockette for the No. 2 job.
Sun, 21 Jul 2013 17:11:11 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR A.J. Jenkins is among the group of receivers expected to challenge for a starting job opposite WR Anquan Boldin during training camp and the preseason. Jenkins reportedly is stronger and looked more confident during spring workouts.
Sun, 21 Jul 2013 17:10:36 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin is not expected to see much, if any, action during the preseason due to the team's lack of depth and/or experience at the position. The team's biggest concern with Boldin is just keeping him healthy until the games count for real. Boldin has reportedly developed quite a rapport with QB Colin Kaepernick already this offseason.
Wed, 19 Jun 2013 13:57:39 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin worked mostly in the slot during team drills when the team had their minicamp last week.
Wed, 29 May 2013 11:22:16 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin said he already feels comfortable in the offense after participating in organized team activities Tuesday, May 28. Boldin said he's run many of the same routes and plays in the team's complicated version of the West Coast offense, and he's just working on the terminology now. QB Colin Kaepernick has already enjoyed throwing to Boldin and has made him his first read often. "I guess I'm looked at as being able to step in right now and make plays," Boldin said. "And that's what I want to bring. I want Kaep to be comfortable. I want the other quarterbacks to be comfortable enough to, even if it doesn't look like I'm open, just give me a chance. I'll make a play for you."
Fantasy Tip: Don't expect Boldin to immediately fill in and put up similar numbers to what Michael Crabtree did last year. However, Boldin is a veteran that will be a safety valve for Kaepernick. Boldin will be a nice fourth receiver with the potential for more.
Tue, 28 May 2013 18:02:57 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin was the top target of all four quarterbacks during organized team activities (OTAs) Tuesday, May 28, including several passes from QB Colin Kaepernick. Boldin has been a quick study. "You got a good look at what he's been doing," head coach Jim Harbaugh said. "He's picked up the system fast and making plays, big catches in tight areas."
Fantasy Tip: Since Michael Crabtree will be out for the season, unless the team unexpectedly goes out and lands a No. 1 wideout, Boldin will be the top WR on the club, and one of the top targets in the passing game along with TE Vernon Davis. He should re-emerge as a low-end WR1 or must-start WR2 in all formats this season.
Tue, 28 May 2013 18:02:20 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WRs Chad Hall and A.J. Jenkins worked with WR Anquan Boldin during the two-minute drill at organized team activities (OTAs) Tuesday, May 28. So far, however, WRs Ricardo Lockette, Marlon Moore and Quinton Patton have also rotated with Hall and Jenkins during drills, and no one receiver appears to be getting the lion's share of reps opposite Boldin, as the jobs behind the veteran are viewed as wide open.
Wed, 22 May 2013 11:15:17 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') suffered a torn Achilles' tendon during organized team activities Tuesday, May 21, and will undergo what could be season-ending surgery.
Fantasy Tip: There is a strong chance that this will be a lost year for Crabtree because of the major injury. Anquan Boldin will become the No. 1 wide receiver and will have his fantasy value increase. Vernon Davis should become more involved in the passing game to fill some of the void, which increases his value as a No. 1 fantasy tight end. Mario Manningham (knee), A.J. Jenkins and Quinton Patton were candidates to win the No. 3 wide receiver job but are now options for the No. 2 wide receiver job. Boldin should be considered a weak No. 2 fantasy option or a solid No. 3. Manningham, Jenkins and Patton could be options in the later rounds of drafts.
Tue, 21 May 2013 18:08:04 -0700
San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and WRs A.J. Jenkins and Ricardo Lockette lived together for two months in Atlanta during the offseason, working together at a nearby training facility. And since the opening of the team's offseason program, WR Anquan Boldin has served as a mentor, helping the two receivers on route running after practice.
Thu, 09 May 2013 13:36:05 -0700
The Baltimore Ravens could use more two tight end sets in 2013 to help overcome the loss of WR Anquan Boldin. "We've got some tight ends who can pick up the slack," assistant general manager Eric DeCosta siad. "Ed Dickson made some big plays last year in the Super Bowl, really played his best football in the playoffs. We're excited to see him become what we thought he was going to be. We really think this is his chance to become a really good tight end in the NFL. Obviously, we've got Dennis Pitta, we've got Torrey Smith. We've got playmakers. We're excited about what we can do on offense."
Fantasy Tip: Pitta was one of the surprises at the position last year and is poised to have a big year in 2013. Ed Dickson also is expected to play a role. There is always some concern over time sharing, but expect both to see enough looks to make them fantasy relevant in 2013.
Wed, 01 May 2013 18:49:45 -0700
San Francisco 49ers WRs Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree are considered the unquestioned starters, but after that the depth chart battles are wide open. WR Mario Manningham (knee) will be trying to hold off challenges from WR A.J. Jenkins, rookie WR Quinton Patton and WR Kyle Williams (knee). WRs Ricardo Lockette, Chad Hall, Joseph Hastings, Marlon Moore, Chuck Jacobs and B.J. Daniels are also in the mix for roster spots, as the team is rather deep at the position.

I was brought to Baltimore to help win a championship. In February, we came home champions. As far as on the field, I don't feel like I left anything behind."
Thu, 14 Mar 2013 08:18:26 -0700

Mon, 11 Mar 2013 13:04:56 -0700
The Baltimore Ravens have traded WR Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers for a sixth-round pick.
Fantasy Tip: Boldin will not see his value change that much with this move. Colin Kaepernick will now have two inside receiving threats in Boldin and Michael Crabtree. Crabtree will likely remain the club's No. 1 receiving target and a high-end No. 2 point-per-reception wideout. Boldin remains a solid No. 3 WR heading into the 2013 season.
